Make sure to do a full wipe, even if you're coming from an older build, just to make sure. Also, flash Google Apps that are also on that download page.

Q&A

Is this CM7?

No, this is a build that started from AOSP. However, some of the fixes and few features have been derived from the CyanogenMod Team, including the CM kernel.

Was wondering when one of these new roms would show up over here. Thanks don. I have tried this rom but it wasn't for me. But I love the variety of gingerbread that is out there right now.

Seems like everyone is still stuck on aosp:p

I like his rom for the evo, pretty slick. I would also try deck's rom;)

Or are we still on the payroll for aosp:p:)

Still loving me some aosp. :p By far the best.

But I have tried decks rom. I flashed his 6/1 update today and it seemed pretty sharp and responsive.

Sorry to go off topic here but I have been wanting to discuss these new roms on here for awhile:D

The main reason why I posted was for us Ho's that need a flash fix and also because I wanted to find a ROM that is not rebooting with my golf GPS applications, I may go to CM7 again to see if those apps work with it, I need my golf GPS apps to work, I have some do a test over at XDA and the ones that are not getting the rebooting with the Google Nav, are getting the reboots with the golf apps I asked them to try.

Umm never noticed that Dec had a new release for the HeroC, did I miss that??

I have been bouncing between AOSP Android 2.3 and CyanogenMod 7 for some time now. Actually, I have been favoring the latter for the last couple weeks.

I will definitely give this new ROM a try this weekend. What do you like about it, andygu3?

To be honest, I have not flashed many roms on the Hero lately. Evo is keeping me busy with the Sense 3.0 roms but dealing with KushDeck's rom and Preludedrew's evervolv rom, I'm very familiar with these roms with the Evo and I must say Deck's rom are more stock CM7 and preludedrew puts out his own flavor of CM7. I like them both:D

Yeah. When I asked I assumed you had tried in on your Sprint HTC EVO 4G and not the Sprint HTC Hero. ;)

It looks nice. I look forward to giving it a test drive. :)

Yea I noticed you had them try your golf apps yesterday and they were rebooting in record time over there

Well I'm running kushdeck's newest update right now I'll try and run a few of your golf apps and let you know if I have any luck. So far I'm impressed with this rom as a whole no issues to speak of.

I took it for a test drive a couple of days ago. First impressions were the font was a little to stylized for me but I know this is one of his trademarks to the rom. Also, I missed the notification bar toggles from the other roms, I guess I'm spoiled :p Other than that it ran well a little lag here and there but definitely a pretty clean rom.

LB, I want you to try what I have asked others at XDA, download 2 apps, Free caddie and Golf frontier GPS lite, and let me know of you get reboots on AOSP 2.3.4 and then try the same on CM 7 and report back

Okay. I can try that out later tonight.

I have had good luck with CyanogenMod 7 in terms of GPS usage. AOSP Android 2.3 was slightly less reliable, but not horrible by any stretch of the imagination.

I have had no issues when using the GPS Google Nav, the issues are when we use the Golf GPS apps, they usually reboot within minutes

FYI all, I have also posted KDeck's Rom also as I am sure some will ask about it, I will test it on the weekend also as i need a Rom that can hold me over with my Golf GPS apps until the Evo 3D comes out
;)

Check out my post here: http://androidforums.com/sprint-her...ad-hero-deck-1-2t-2-3-4-beta.html#post2767732 .

I had no issues with those apps with CyanogenMod 7. Hopefully that experience is the same for others.

I flashed the newest nightly and gapps and installed FreeCaddie and only FreeCaddie. I was out driving and loaded a course and it took 10 minutes with the screen off but I still got a reboot. :(

LBP you might have a superhero;) What setup are you running? I left everything as default right after a flash.

Saving me the time of having to flash, I will leave my damn screen on, LOL

I know Froyo I get no reboots at all, I might flash that back when I want to go play golf.

I have same setup as you. I used the latest CyanogenMod 7 ROM and the latest GApps. I did not flash any different kernels or other tweaks. Perhaps my handset just has an awesome GPS chip?

That is really weird. I just tried those two apps again and still no reboot.

Yea that seems to be the case you either have the problem or don't lol. Still might be worth a try don who knows maybe your phone will play nice like LBP's. But I figured I would report my test run. I'm just having fun troubleshooting with all these roms.

Here is what I would like you to do, is leave the app on and wait even a half hour or an hour, and let me know
