[Official Discussion] Huawei Ascend 2.1 - 2.2 Firmware Upgrade (Info updated as received!)

heyy nuttmeg you think its worth it?

i think you should give it a try, just make sure you backup your existing rom before reverting back to stock...i uploaded a image file but i use 3.0.2.8 but thats for the tweaking stuff, but i would say yeah and its way better than 2.1 eclair by a long shot, but a downgrade from cm7 tho...its not overclock link cm7, and also i notice to delete a file you have to use root explorer, titu want uninstall it like on cm6/7, icarus, or 2.1, but it will let you freeze it, also has the option to move apps to sd.

nice, also did you calibrate your battery after flashing new rom, also is gps off? you can boot into rcovery and wipe battery stat, or use the app from the market, i did both, but let it charge to 100% and use the app from the market and once the app is install and you run it, it has to start from 100% to 0%, than recharge it back to 100% and all should be good.

Do I have to uninstall icarus to update my phone?
And how can I bckup my rom incase 2.2 is crap?
Oh and can I downgrade bck to 2.1 if I want to reinstall icarus?

yes, phone has to be on stock, and make a backup of your rom before reverting back to stock in recovery menu, scroll down to backup and restore, and select backup.

So far I'm loving the new 2.2. Rooted with Gingerbreak. Installed Tibu. The only problem is Tibu wont remove all the bloatware. Keeps saying "Cannot remove system app. Failed to locate the apk file". Has anybody figured out how to remove the bloatware?

you can freeze it or use root explorer and delete it from the/system/app.

2.2.2 is a huge improvement over the 2.1 the phone works a lot better and it's faster oh in order for it to work you have to have your phone at stock un-rooted and all the stock software on it or the update will fail. at least that was my case my phone tired to update yesterday morning but the update failed and than I spent the rest of the day dicking with the phone trying to get it back to stock use the link belowe and read the instruction on how to get you phone back to stock

http://androidforums.com/ascend-all-things-root/282038-how-flash-huawei-ascend-stock.html

thank god this was here otherwise I would not have a phone that worked:D
