Frankly, if you're going to root your phone, at least do your due diligence and learn what it means for a DROID to be rooted. I read statements made all the time regarding a rooted DROID and the risk of it bricking. These statements only make the one making them sound like the fool that they are.
Having said that, here's the most simply analogy that I can come up with.
You buy a building with 2 rooms. The original purchase comes with one key for only 1 of the rooms. There's a lot of cool things in that room. But then you hear about some people who own a building just like yours, but they can do even more cool things because they have the key to the
other room. The secret room! So you do a little reading, type some meaningless gobbledeegook into your PC and/or phone, and you receive "the other key" to the secret room. (Can you hear the angelic choir singing?)
That's it! Now you are rooted. Period. All the rooting means is that you have access to the secret room in your DROID.
It is only if and when you go into the secret room that you run the risk of bricking your building ... err, umm ... DROID.
The first thing you might do is find out what apps are available (i.e. idiot-proof) on the Android Market. That way, going into the secret room isn't so risky, now is it?
Another thing you might want to do is read (and learn ... crazy, I know) what you're doing in the secret room. Knowledge is power, people!
Hearing statements regarding "1 click to rooting" scare the crud outta me. Like I replied in one thread, what comes after "1 click to rooting" is "1 click to
UNbricking".
The bottom line: If you want to play in the secret room, educate yourself so you can handle what lies behind the door!
