NFC possible for Evo?

Some of the features that gingerbread is supposed to bring are:

Quick question, why won't Evo benefit from NFC? I thought I read somewhere that we'd simply have to purchase a new type of SD Card?

I hadn't heard of NFC being available on microSD cards - but a search on the web shows several companies are working on it. I haven't seen one available yet (I may be mistaken of course)

Mon, question. Will the NSD allow us to move everything over to the SD Card, including bloatware, or is the NSD for something else (like swiping the phone to make payments like a gas key-card)?

NFC means near field communications. It's a dodad that lets you swap data from up to a foot away from whatever you're linking to - business card, credit reader, etc. They've played with adding them to SD cards for a while. SD card has power and address pins, so it's a clever piggyback is all.

How or if practical? We'll see.

I've heard tell that apps for that might have to be launched, then a passcode entered - at least as secure as lost debit card if true.

Details on all that need to be worked out.

On something like that you would have to have some sort of security passcode. As well all know though, those do nothing because you can get into a "locked" phone pretty easily. I guess it just stalls them.

It sounds really interesting. I'd like to do that because I have tons of SD cards and am constantly switching USB drives in my computer trying to switch all the information. But it does sound pretty bad if you have very valuable information on it...like EarlyMon said..."...we'll see..."
