Help Switched SD cards, now won't play any media...

I upgraded my Micro SD card to a 32 GB, transferred all my old files to my new card, but now everytime I attempt to play a movie or music it says in the wrong format or the screen will turn black for a long time.

Any suggestions?

JRobin,

Welcome to AndroidForums!

I think you have to format your new card on the phone first, and then transfer your files to it. I've never replaced my SD card myself, but I'm pretty sure I've read a few posts talking about this. You didn't say that you formatted the new card, but I'm thinking that this was the solution for some (and a few mentioned that it was best to format from the phone itself vs. from your PC).

Just make sure you've got everything saved-off onto somewhere safe first--wouldn't want you to lose anything.

Cheers!

How do I format the card?

lol, I knew you were going to come back and ask that ;) :p. [I've never had to do it, but I don't think its that hard].

Well, make sure you've got your content backed-up first.

Then, go to Settings and then Storage.

From here, you'll have to do the "Unmount SD card" first before you can do the "Format SD card" (the "Format SD card" option will be greyed-out until you unmount it).

Then select "Format SD card"...not sure if/what it will ask you next since I don't really want to format my card, lol.

After the format completes, just do the "Mount SD card" and restore you files.

Hope that helps. Good luck!
