Help music player wont play songs after update 2.2

after i updated my android from 2.1 to 2.2 yesterday the music player won't play any of the music i have downloaded on my phone. when i click on a song to play it gives me an error message saying th player doesnt support this tyoe of audio file. all the songs played before the update. now they don't. what should i do? is there anyway to fix it without factory resetting? if thats the only way how do i save the songs to my SD chip (external) so i dont lose the songs i have.

Interesting predicament. There seems to have been quite a few problems with the update and certain applications ceasing to function correctly afterwards.

Something sort of similar happened to me regarding the update to Froyo. I would say before anything you should try double checking for any market updates for that music player; unless you're talking about the native music player. And also, try seeing if a market music player could play your songs. Doubletwist has worked great for me before and after the update.

Food for thought.

I have had this problem recently as well. It would be fixed with a reboot, but would come back some time shortly after. There are several threads about it in the Android Media section of the forum. Several people seem to relate it to the Twitter app. I uninstalled Twitter and have not had the problem since.

Use an app called ASTRO or ES File Explorer. They are file managers that allow you move (and copy) files around. You would just need to find your music, press and hold the file (on the screen), and copy it to external_sd.

i found one called power amp but its like 5 bucks for it. the free version is only good for like 15 days or so. its the default music player thats doin it. when i tried using the poweramp it played it. so ill search for the one u suggested. but its only a partial solution to fixing it.

Very true. But a temporary fix is better than nothing! Glad I could help a little.

PS: PowerAMP is way better than Doubletwist, go with that if you can! I've just stuck with DT b/c I don't listen to music on my phone that often & could use the $5 on other apps.

Had the same problem, deleted the twitter app, music player works fine now two weeks strong, go figure

haha that's strange and very funny

So Did you ever find out what to do? Because I just got the phone a few weeks ago and It won't let me play my music on Music Player but I can only play it on Power amp (Trial) and I'm not gonna pay 5 bucks for it so, Did you find out the problem
