Does anyone know when the Samsung Galaxy S2 is coming to orange in the UK, i check the site constantly and it just says "coming soon.."

I have 2 friends who have had this phone it seems like forever with other providers, i'm getting very envious lol

Pretty much every provider in the UK has this phone now, what are orange doing? (i hope its not bloatware :()

Don't worry. I'm with T-mobile. Both "tossers" IMO. T-mobile got them in, BS'ed me telliing me it was only available for "personal users" (when I'm on a business contract). By the time I spoke to someone decent, they had run out of stock and won't be getting them for maybe as long as a month...

I know it's annoying but it appears EverythingEverywhere (parent company of both) has obviously got it's priorities F*** in terms of when they placed orders. I know there are stock issues, due to demand...but Expanysis and other carriers don't have this problem.

I've probably phoned the call centre and stores 20+ times in the last 10 working days. :/

It should be coming out next week.
I've spoken to them last week.

EDIT: DONT GET IT ON ORANGE.

ORANGE ISN'T A SUITABLE NETWORK FOR SMARTPHONE

3G data is a Bag of SH*TE

You have been warned. T-mo & Orange Sucks. Thats why they have merged 2G and will merge 3G this summer

I must agree, but I'm stuck on a really good (value for money wise) business contract. Although hopefully (I say this with sceptism) with the merger of 3G data, single should really improved vastly. But we'll just have to wait and see.

Sorry for the thread hijacking but which is the best UK network to use? I was told by phones4u to move to orange as its the best network for mobile and 3g coverage. I find it very expensive. I used to be on o2 but network coverage was poor.

oh dear. I certainly know that Orange are not the best...that's why they're merging with T-Mobile because both are pretty rubbish.

Sorry I can't give you a straight out answer. (I think o2 may have won it this year, some say Vodafone).

Best way is to look here.

3G Coverage - Which UK Mobile Phone Network Has The Best 3G Signal Coverage?

Click on the individual links to the networks, and look for where you live and where you travel and then see which one has the best signal. I do think that T-mobile could be good by summer/2012. Because the 3G networks are merging meaning you phone will automatically switch between Orange and T-mobile to get the strongest and fastest signal.

I am on orange and am happy with my network. Maybe the op is in a poor reception area?

True. It depends completely on where you are. I'm in ESSEX and I go to Chelmsford on a daily basis and I rarely get 3G. I get H and G, which still loads pages quite fast, but rarely does my Desire show 3G, and when it does it's usually 1 bar and so it's slower then 3 bars or 2 bars of G or H.

I'm just hoping that the merger will really boost my signal. I've certainly seeing the increase in signal using 2G (seeing as they merged last year)

Now, this may sound crazy but i have noticed better loading speeds on H than on 3G!?
Im in Chester and the signal is fair to middling in most places. Not to bothered at home as i always have wifi on.

SAME! Sorry, didn't make it clear in my previous post, but that's what I get. and it's very odd!

Hoping the merger of 3G will boost the strength so that 3G is actually faster than H!

Ahh look at us talking about 3G, when Americans are already on 4G/LTE! So envious right now! :p - 20Mps - that's 10 times my max home wired internet speed! :(

SGS2 is available from Orange since yesterday. Mine is on its way! :)

I don't get it when i select the phone as an upgrade it says this phone is "coming soon" but if i'm a new customer it's available!

What gives?!

lol and also i've just realised if i select the phone as a new customer and try to pick a plan it says "this phone does not support internet"

I think orange have been smoking crack

Correct! If you're new customer its available but if you're upgrading it is not! Very cheeky to do that, so i got on the phone and sorted them out and also asked my PAC code just incase. Within 1 day the guy called back and said its in stock now for upgraders aswell! Although the Orange website said COMING SOON under the upgrades section, if you called them, it was available.

Havent looked since the weekend as i got mine so not more hunting around. First thing is to see what Orange did with the phone and to make all features are enabled...otherwise im sending it back!

I thought H was HSDPA and therefore would be quicker anyway?
Spot on, H is much better than 3G

In order of fastest to slowest

H+/4G/HSUPA
H (HSDPA)
3G
E (Edge, mainly rolled out for the old iPhone, short range, only in major cities)
G

As far as i know there are no H+ networks in the UK as yet, so when you see H you are on the fastest cellular network available.

I mainly use my phone in the Ipswich area, with the odd foray to Colchester / Coggeshall and I usually have H coverage on orange within Ipswich/Colchester with 3g along the A12 while driving, with the odd drop to 4 bars G in my parents house in Coggeshall.

This is all on Orange UK, have only ever been on T-mobile once as far as i am aware. I swapped from o2, and imho the signal levels are about the same.
The only difference i have really seen is that i dont get missed calls on orange (for a while the o2 network was oversubscribed so you miss calls due to them going directly to voicemail without making your phone ring if there was no spare capacity on the cell you were on(mainly due to the iphones popularity))

If it's stories about Orange, then I can offer my recent experience.

From about February onward, I did my research into what phone I might possibly like to endure for the next 24 months when my contract expired at the end of May.

Originally it was going to be a Dell Streak 5! Eventually came to my senses and chose a Galaxy S2 ;)

I went online and found a great contract (for me anyway) with T-Mobile that worked out at just over

Hi everyone. I have a samsung galaxy s2 on orange and 3g is great. I live in wales and it's fine in this area. I had the same problem when waiting for stock of this phone on the orange web site. It kept saying stock coming soon!! so i went to my local orange shop and asked if they had any in, the orange shop guy said yes. I said how come because i just looked online and it said stock coming soon. He said the shops get first priority. So i upgraded there and then and now im a proud owner on a samsung galaxy s2 : )
