Why should I wait for this phone? DC is on sale

I like QWERTY keyboards, but I also really like the Droid Charge right now compared to the Revo, Dinc2, DX2, and the rumored specs of the Droid 3. Is there anything that'd really make the Droid 3 stand out as a phone to make me consider waiting still? The DC is on sale for $200 for an upgrade at amazon til June 8th...

The biggest question in deciding is which is more important to you - a physical keyboard or LTE?

The Droid 3 will be dual core while the Charge is single core. The screen on the Charge is better quality and bigger. The Droid 3 is supposed to be a global device. There are several differences between the phones, but those are some of the bigger ones.

I need a global device, and I prefer a physical keyboard, so it's a not even a question for me. Sure LTE would be nice (even though it's not in my area yet), and the Super AMOLED Plus screen on the Charge is nothing short of amazing, but the Droid 3 has everything I need.

I can really benefit from some of the things the DC has over the Droid 3 though. I live between Baltimore and DC, my area is loaded with 4G coverage. I watch a lot of movies/shows on my Zune so the 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus screen would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have plans to travel outside of the country for the next several years, or if I do, it'd be maybe a 2 week thing one time, so world phone is not a big deal.

I'm going to visit the VZW store and compare the DX2 to the DC this weekend and see how the dual core responds. It sounds like dual core phones tend to get hot and are still a little early in their adoption to make me go to them, though 4G is only months old and has its problems too.

How do the cameras compare? The DC is supposed to be fantastic, but have they leaked camera specs on the D3?

This is probably also a question that you should ask in the droid charge forum as well. I think the majority of us that are stalking the Droid3 forum are qwerty slider fans. The options are limited for qwerty sliders right now. I love my Droid, but I am to the point where custom roms and oc'ing can't keep up with the newer phones.

I have no need or much desire for LTE at this point. Of all the things that I wish my droid was faster at, connectivity isn't really one of them to be honest. I don't stream movies though and my browsing is only moderate. So that may be a bigger deal to some.

The one thing that I am really worried about is the screen. I've been keeping tabs on the DX2 forums and their is some real complaints with the pixelated screen. I know nothing is set in stone, but my understanding is that the screen on the D3 is going to be the same screen just a tad smaller.

At this point, if a slide out keyboard wasn't such a big necessity for me, I would probably wait on the Droid Bionic. It is a bit of a white whale, but recent rumors have it going through a re-design process and a possible availability of August. Dual-core and LTE and if done right will be Motorola and Verizons new flagship product.

I seriously doubt that the Droid 3's camera will be able to compete with the camera in the Charge. Motorola has a pretty poor track record with cameras. The Droid 3 is supposed to have an 8mp shooter, but that doesn't mean anything as the Droid X and X2 have an 8mp camera that's lackluster. The Charge has a fantastic camera.

It sounds to me that the Droid Charge is more what you need. If I had to pick a phone that Verizon had available right now, I'd go with the Charge. By all accounts it has the best battery life of any LTE phone that they have out right now, and it's screen and camera are top of the line.

Yep I posted it there too, and your concerns are some of my biggest ones too, the screen really may not be that great on the D3, it's pretty hard to beat Super AMOLED Plus. I'm not waiting for tiered data to be coming and be stuck paying a whole lot more for one of these phones to save myself on the data plan.

That's what i'm thinking too, the DX2 really hasn't impressed me and the Charge seems to be the phone to bear right now.

My wife has a DX2, she's used it constantly since she got it almost two weeks ago. I've used it off and on during that time to help her set it up/tweak things. It's bright, clear, sharp, and we have found no issues w/its quality or clarity browsing the web, reading emails/calendar, viewing images, video, etc.

Excellent point and it is not something I have done. I saw some of the comparison pictures in the DX2 forum that were pretty alarming. Not to make this an X2 thread, but I do feel that these phones will be sporting similar hardware, so how does it appear in the sunlight? Also, is the media issues (ie popping, skipping) apparent or something else that is individualized?

Not to make this an X2 thread, but I do feel that these phones will be sporting similar hardware, so how does it appear in the sunlight? Also, is the media issues (ie popping, skipping) apparent or something else that is individualized?

The DX2 is superior to my D2 in sunlight - much better/brighter, easier to read. I actually prefer it to mine and use it when my wife and I are together and outdoors.

She has had some limited skips/pauses with Pandora, but doesn't play music files from the phone. I'm not worried about that, it's an issue that will be resolved in a SW update.

It's not perfect, but can anyone name a smartphone that released in perfect form?
