I know LOL. Apple is always touting "thinnest and lightest" and now that thinner and lighter products come along, even in tablets, now their fanboys try to spin it as a bad thing.
It's just like Retina display/PPI, up until the iPhone4 (meaning OG, 3G, 3GS), iPhone was deficient in those areas, yet you literally never even heard the word "PPI" from the media back when Android had the edge in that spec. Then as soon as Apple took the lead people started suddenly acting like it was super important...I predict if/when the rumored 720P Android phones come out, suddenly it will cease to be important again
I's is rather annoying because (even though I don't like Apple, as a business) they make good products and they did create a revolution. Firstly, the design is simply how many people Steve Jobs' has got churning out designs. Furthermore, it's easier for Apple because they have one mobile phone. All resources are put into 1 single phone, so clearly going to be the "cream-of-the-crop"
BUT the revolution was back in 2005 - 2006 and maybe up until 2009. They're simply not as revolutionary as they used to be! Android, whilst still very fragmented, and not half as "clean" as iOS, is rapidly catching up and with phones such as the Sensation, Android is pulling in "regular consumers." It's a shame really because Apple are just riding and thriving on the fact that consumers have become so addicted (unknowingly of course) to Apple that they simply don't know what's out there. Literally the other day, I spent about 5 minutes explaining to my Aunt (a typical iPhone user) the concept of a widget! And she was amazed - simply because she'd never seen a widget type thing on a phone.
Another thing, if iOS gets widgets...my god will that enrage me! It's expected to be released in iOS5, but what annoys me more is the fact that Android has been doing widgets for a LONG TIME, since the beginning. And yet, as soon as Apple brings out "widgets" they'll be a whole frenzy of "OMG - iOS WIDGETS. IT'S SOOO GOOD!!!!" -_-
If you turned the tables round and Android had "copied" widgets (or something equivalent) from Apple (say they had been doing it, since the beginning), Apple would simply slap one great, big, whopping, huge, gigantic lawsuit on Google.
In all honesty, I suppose Apple simply exploit a really good business strategy, but other manufacturers/brands do amazingly well without being a "douche-bag-like" as Apple are. In human terms it's like a really popular kid, in secondary school, who does all the sports, gets all the top grades....but when you actually look at him, you realise that he is SUCH a HUGE arrogant d***-head! Okay weird analogy I know, but that's the only way I could explain it + I've got one of them in my class.
Yeah...sorry about the rant, but I have valid reasons for my dislike of Apple (which recently I've been feeling the need to share!
)
