Hi,

(not sure if this is allowed here, so please don't flame me...)

I just posted a new version of aTAKEphONE.

hgo_tp_and_all.gif

TAKEphONE will change the way you use your phone to
make calls - no more having to open the G1 keyboard to search
for contacts, or fiddling with the tiny on-screen keyboard
buttons, fast & easy access to all your favorites, call-log
and even a dial-by-photo feature !

You can get a full-featured 30 days free trial at www.shsh.com/android

Thanks.

I have had a little play with this, and first of all I would like to thank you for your hard work with this. It looks good, it works and doesn't crash so I can only assume you have spent a long time testing this (something of a rarity it would seem these days). It will take me a little time to get used to it, but I am sure it will replace my normal dialler soon.

One quirky thing: I found it natural to use the back button to delete an incorrect number (I dont know why, it just seemed natural to me to use it), but it took me back to the desktop. If it seemed natural to me, it will seem natural to others. Perhaps pressing back would be good to delete the last key pressed when dialling a number?

Other than that I am impressed. Well done 5/5 top score buddy

Thanks for your kind words.

I like the idea about the BACK button - will probably add this later on (as an option).

Thanks.

I read somewhere it has speed dial so I downloaded it but could not make the speed dial work. Does it have it? How do I make it work?

Hi,

the rightmost tab is for favorites. you can add manual entries there, or add contacts you find in the middle ("Find/Dial") tab by long-tapping a contact and selecting from the popup menu.

Is this what you mean ?

There is a user manual available at ShSh Software

Thanks !

is this fully compatible with the HTC hero with sense UI?

and will there be any skins released ...

the iBar picture on the find tab i think should be a little bigger ... there looks to be room above and ontop

Hi,

HTC should be supported.

I am about to release a version with two more skins.

Might add an option for a "transparent skin" in the future (where you will be able to use the HOME wallpaper).

Re. the i-Bar - you mean make it taller (and not wider) ?

yes taller .. take advantage of as much realestate as possible...

also feel that top bar which tells u directions or to tap for help is a waste... can get rid of that and put help in menu ... and make i-bar even bigger... which is going to be one of the most used features...

the HTC hero is big on blurring backgrounds... maybe something like that would work .. making transparent but blurring image behind not to distract...

this was one of my fav apps back in palm days ... excited that it came to android...

HOW ABOUT A takephone widget for the ibar???

the widget that comes with the hero is nice ... but u can only perform one set task.. calling mobile or whatever default function u have set ... the only way around it , is if u select the persons name under thier picture.. then that brings up the contacts details but that is too hard to tap ... especially when on the go ... somedays i miss my blackberry and its quickness and other days i love the graphics of the android

also when u press and hold on contact in favorites ...

can the popup give u all options ... call work/mobile/home .. etc ... instead of just call ???

faster then having to view contact .. then pick from there...

i am trying to get quicker ways of doing things then what is available on the HTC hero with Sense already

Either way...if you start typing the contact name, they immediately begin listing, and usually within 2-3 letters, I've got what I'm after. The trouble with dialing the number is that most of them have the same area code, which we're required to dial in the Chicago area now...

But you don't have to open ...oh, maybe now I see what you mean. You do have to open the contact to get to the right number. Your only option would be to set up different contact names (for the ones you use frequently)...like Jeff cell Jones, Jeff home Jones. That way, as you type in Je...they'll both pop and you can pick. Can't figure any other way around it. I do admit, the built-in Palm Contact list does come up like you describe where all the numbers list. I wonder if TakePhone will let you do that. It only has about a thousand different settings. I've got a TakePhone expert on a Palm forum I can ask...stay tuned.

Well, since it's just released, no one's likely to know that yet. But I would expect it to work nearly identically. Just confirming, both by playing with my settings and a post from the other board, no can do. "Not with TP, at least not straightforwardly - you can of course set it to auto-expand a contact 1nce the list is narrowed to only 1; that comes closest I guess, tho I personally don't quite like it and am just used to the double-click."

Sorry.
