Help Battery Life ....GB

I am running Stock DX W/ OTA GB. The battery life is noticeable worse now than with Froyo. It's not like im using it all the time either,,ocassional Facebook post , Email check, and some text messages. GB supposedly makes your battery life better,,not from what I'm seeing. Anyone else notice this.

I'm surprised because I have seen improved battery life / performance.

I would have my phone fully-charged before I went to sleep and it would at about 90% by 8 or 8:30 AM.

With GB, its at 95 or 96% by the same time under the same circumstances / use (actually, it just laying there with the screen off). I know these numbers because I keep a close eye on what is reported by my BattMonX app in its status bar icon.

Your post is not the first report of worse battery life that I've seen and I am at a loss as to why this might be occurring for some folks.

I do have my phone in Custom battery saver mode with these settings:

Off-peak hours: 11:00 PM start to 8:00 AM end
Turn off data after: 15 minutes
Peak hours: turn off data after 15 minutes
Display brightness: 25%

Cheers!

this was on one of the Gingerbread leaks...obviously pretty minimal usage...but these phones can get great battery life...something is eating up battery in the background...

I will give it a few days before bitching about the battery... I'm sure all of the playing and tweaking I'm doing... therefore more screen time... uses more battery. As opposed to the example above... my phone has been idle only 2% and the screen accounts for 72% of bat usage.

divedivedivecfl (submarine reference? ;)),

What is your screen brightness set to? I keep mine at 25% and the screen still looks very good and is very readable. I wonder if you turn it down a little if the battery usage, at least for the screen component, will decrease for you.

Just a thought.

Cheers!

My battery life has been cut in half. I was getting 63 hours+ with lite usuage, ~30h with normal usage. I'm now getting 37h with lite usuage, and ~15< with normal usage. Something is definately different.

My screen is at 0% brightness, with auto-off after 1 min. I did notice last night that the screen still seemed to be partly on for a bit after it went off last night. I may not be completely cutting the power to the screen.

My battery life is also horrible. I leave home fully charged in the morning, and it's dead by noon. It shows 70-80% of the battery usage is from "Media", whatever that is. I used to make it through a whole day.

I should add a caveat-- many, many things aren't working for me in GB. The Music app hangs on startup (so does WinAmp and PowerAmp). I can't load any new apps from the Market. And just about every app seems to hang and force close now. I am clearly looking at having to do a factory reset but I'm waiting for a good way to backup app data before doing so. So my battery life issues might be related to GB or just because my phone is so messed up.

unless you're rooted there is probably no sense in waiting...im not sure there is a way to backup app data without root access..

out of curiosity...what data is so important that you can't live without it?
