How to make Calendar start weeks on Monday?

The Calendar starts with Sunday as the first day of the week, which I'm really not used to. How to make it start weeks with Monday as the first day? I can find that setting for Google Calendar on my PC, but not for the phone... The calendar is Build version 2.2.2 by the way.

It irritates me hugely every time to see a calendar application starting the week from Sunday! Come ON!
Sometimes, even if you change the settings in default calendar to start the week from Monday, some of the apps still go their way (although they are in sync). Recently, I had the same issue with the GO Calendar. Bah...

Interesting...

My calendar version says 2.3.3, in GB Zombie Stomped 2.3.3 ROM...that setting doesn't exist in the calendar. All it has is options to show the full week (sun-sat) or work week (mon-fri).
I'm using CM7 ROM with Calendar 2.3.4. See screenshots:-

Can the Touch calendar also be synced automatically with the Google Calendar on your PC?

Yes, it can. The same way as the stock calendar is synced. It also has the advantage, as I mentioned, of pinch and zoom. See developers screenshots:- :D

I do miss CM sometimes...

I know what you mean. I couldn't go back to stock firmware now. :)

It must be a CM7 thing because the stock 2.3.4 does not have the "week start day" option.

How odd. I was sure that it was part of the stock, vanilla, firmware since at least 2.1, unless it has been removed in various handset/operators firmware.

I did the work on the calendar for CM. I have managed to pull the source out of the android build. This allows me to build the Calendar on its own so that any ROM, ROOTed or not can run it. I have uploaded it to the market under "Calendar Plus". I have it listed for $.99 to cover my time and to keep it almost free. There are 2 versions. A 2.2(froyo) and earlier version and a 2.3(gingerbread) and later version.
The calendar consists of:
1) week start day
2) Month View colors
3) added MonthView Horizontal swipe to selected week.

Enjoy.

Does anyone have any idea what are the chances that a phone with version 2.2 will get an update to get this feature in a near future? (I have an LG Optimus 2x)

Hi, I think I found the setting. I'm new to Android so still not entirely sure about all the settings. But alternating between English-UK and English-US changes the start day in the stock calendar (Android 2.3.4).

Going to Settings > Language & Keyboard > Select language let's you choose your spelling dictionary. I'm in Canada so I use British spelling. But being in North America, I'm used to the week starting on Sunday which requires setting the spelling to US spelling.

Of the two choices, my priority is to spell using Canadian conventions so I'll have to live then with my week starting on Monday. I'll check out some of the alternate calendars.

To me the two setting should be independent. Actually looking at the calendar, it makes sense to have the traditional non-work days together (Sat & Sun) and the week starting with Monday. As usual the colonies have to be different.
