Help Sync with Outlook

Just traded in my blackberry for incredible 2 and trying to find app that will sync to outlook on my pc...would appreciate any suggestions or info! Thanks

Outlook is an email client, not a email address itself. Outlook is synced with an email address.

To have the phone synced with your outlook, what you really need is to have the same email address that is synced to your Outlook to be synced with the phone.

Most email addresses can be synced using the Mail app that the phone came with. But there are many options in it.

What kind of email address is it? Gmail, Hotmail, yahoo, corporate account, etc? with this info, I can give you some more specific instructions.

My email is road runner pop3. it is synced for my emails, but i also want my contacts, notes, tasks to sync as well. i saw an app called dejaoffice from companionlink software, but am so new at this and am not sure which app companies to trust. thank you so much for your help!!! Linda

Gmail works best on the android OS AFAICT. I have multiple hotmail accounts and my solution was to create a Gmail account, which is the primary account on the phone. I forward all my hotmail to the Gmail account, which is then pushed to the phone. I also have the Gmail account setup in Outlook 2003 using IMAP. I use Outlook for calendaring and Google Calendar Sync to sync with the web and the phone. This all works really well, much better than setting up the hotmail accounts on the phone which didn't work reliably. There was a little work at the beginning exporting my contacts from Hotmail and importing them into Outlook/Gmail, but it's not hard and only needs to be done once.

Not so.

I sync my HTC Desire with outlook on a weekly basis. Calendar, tasks, contacts are synced, as well as music and files outside of Outlook.

I use Windows Live Mail for email. My Outlook installation is just really a backup for the phone.

You're on the right track. Depending on what you want to sync (contacts, calendars, tasks, notes, etc), you'll want to look at different apps. SyncDroid has a pretty good list of the available options.

If you're looking for your Outlook contacts and calendar and such, HTC Sync supports this. Application - HTC Sync for all HTC Android Phones & HTC Smart

ETA: I don't use the software though, since I get all my contacts via my connection to my Exchange server and Gmail.

I don't know if this helps, but I just moved all my contacts from 3 different accounts (including an Outlook account with tight security) by simply exporting them to My Documents and then importing the files to gmail. All 700+ are now on my phone and backed-up at gmail.com. Only a few needed tweaking/merging (the actual number was 18 total). It was almost too easy....felt like I was doing it wrong, but so far all seem to have synched with no data loss.

I downloaded this yesterday to sync my contact with Outlook. For some reason it put each contact in Outlook 5 times. Anyone know of a setting or step I missed?

I came from a Blackberry on BES. To a Droid Eris and no Exchange server what so ever. Needless to say the HTC manual sync method for Outlook calendar and contacts just wasn't cutting it for me. I was use to automatic syncing.

Here is how I setup my phone for automatic syncing. This has worked flawlessly for almost 2 years now.

1st, Obviously you will need a Gmail account.

Next go to Soocial.com. This is a free sync website. Download the software to your computer running Outlook. In my case I am running Outlook 2007. Once installed sync your Outlook to the Soocial.com network. This will keep Outlook synced up to the Soocial network from now on. OK now we have to sync your Droid phone to the Soocial Network as well. This is done by syncing your Google gmail account and gmail calender to the Soocial network. So you will now link your gmail account to the Soocial network. Since gmail and Google Calendar will sync you phones calendar and contacts automatically the Soocial.com network kind of works as a inter-mediator. Any changes to your Outlook will be sent to the Soocial network then pushed to your gmail account. Your gmail account will then push those changes to your Droid phone. Like wise any changes made on your phone will be pushed to your gmail account. Soocial will pull those changes into your Soocial network account and then download those to your Outlook account. It is not 100% real time but pretty close.

Once you have setup a soocial account (i would recommend you use your gmail email address) you click on the connections link. With a free account you can only have 3 connections. But 2 is all you need. I see they know have an Android connection. I don't think I will miss with it what I have works, if it isn't broke don't fix it. You could check out the Andriod connection.

For me I have the 2 connections. Setup the gmail connection and then the Outlook connection. Gmail connection sync's your gmail contacts folder with soocial and the Outlook connection syncs soocial with Outlook contacts. Once this is done you can add a contact to your phone it will sync with soocial and then soocial will sync that contact with Outlook. Of course it works from outlook to soocial and then to gmail. As for calendar syncing, I use gmail calendard since it will sync with outlook and your Droid phone. It's not as clean as an exchange server but it works. Once you have it setup. It's set it and forget it. Fully automatic. Keep in mind a free Soocial account will only sync gmail 2 times a day. But I don't make that many changes to my contacts so this is not a big deal as long as it updates the contact in a day or 2 I am good with that. If you are a heavy contact changer you might want to buy a year subscription.

One other thing about free Soocial. It will only allow 250 contacts. If you have more contacts you will have to buy the subscription.

Have new INC2. Installed HTC Sync which syncs all Outlook item types ... except Tasks. Now realize that there apparently is no Tasks app on my phone. If I had one, would HTC sync them as well? And, what Task app do I need?
