Help How do I fix this random reboot?

I just had this phone for a day and after using its google search and browsing webs, it resets on my randomly. Is there any fix or should I just return this and get a new one? This is stock phone, not yet rooted.
You could try rooting and then a stable running ROM like the Sense ROM but if that doesn't fix it, as it did for my wife's LG Optimus M, then your stuck trying to put it back to stock.
I'd take it back but be prepared for them to do a hard reset, pat you on the head and tell you they will only replace it if the problem continues.

if it is doing that on the second day an on an unrooted phone its a problem with the phone take it back and be insistent.

My best guess as to what is wrong, the cpu is glitchy at stock 600mhz speeds if your overclocked and the cpu cant handle it it reboots and since its happening at stock speed the cpu is a bad one. should only run 587mhz or something

Sounds like you got one of the bad ones. LG is aware of the problem as well as some Metro stores. There was supposed to be a fix coming from LG but we never heard anything else about it.

At this point it might be easier to harass them for a functional phone. What Jabba said is correct about some people having better luck changing ROMs, but if they can swap it let them before you go that route.

lol if i bought a phone and it was acting up first day or second, no question i would be in that store and they would be replacing it, and i wouldnt accept no hard reset. my indulge had a problem the first day they let me use the phone until i got a new one 2 days later.

Thanks for ALL the answers, they really helped me a lot! - so tomorrow I will be sending this back to get another one. Good thing I Haven't rooted this one yet.

another question though: after I get the 2nd phone, and root it - think I can unroot it back and put it to stock if it happens again/any other weird cases.

Ok - so I went to my nearest dealer and asked to change my phone and had to deal with a bunch of stuff and at the end, I decided not to exchange it because the reboot only happens when "all animations" is turned on while going to android market in exchange for not changing my phone number, not changing my family plan, not wasting gas money and not wasting my precious time.

So now what should I do step by step? Should I use z4root? My Android version is 2.2.1

Since you have 2.2.1 start here: http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-all-things-root/336196-1-click-root-optimus-m-gingerbreak.html. From there get http://androidforums.com/getitnowmarketing/330813-all-one-recovery-thread.html. After that, you choose the ROM you wish to install and follow it's directions.
