Root Update help

I got a warning from admin..for recomending going to YouTube and search threads.. people say they are here to help, but only offer a tiny bit of jargon and send em on there way, a few good people..(Mr.ed) send links....most don't take the time to walk step by step with someone, and that's what needs to be done more around here.. were here to learn and help.. I'm a developer for HTC..I've posted things as a way to see how people are getting help..there is a lot of people with knowledge here..share it.. don't pass someone off...

This is how it works, and it works well. People like me have answered the same question a blue million times, or at least 3000 . At some point you get them going in a direction and request someone to grab a link because newer people have come in to that haven't answered everything 3000 times and they are ready to link and help. We pass knowledge by setting you in a direction. Every little bit helps anyhow and some of us are busier than we like and don't have all day to grab links. Hell I do this from my phone on the go.

Should I stop coming in here and helping at all because I don't have time to grab a link?

I didn't say it was directed at me but what I said still stands. We help in what capacity we can. I can't help as much any more sadly but I help as much as I can, I know someone will grab a link if I mention it, etc.

In general this is the friendliest most helpful forum you will find I'm not sure what experience you had but sorry it left you with a sour taste...?

There are a select few..and you have helped..but my assignment was to see what help was out there..between YouTube and here..people get what they need..with weeks of Indiana Jones secret op research...

None of us know what experience or knowledge the person asking the questions has until they let us know. If they have rooted their phones, we expect that they have some clue what they have gotten themselves into. If they do not, then most on here are more than willing to give them step by step instructions to get them fixed up or at least to point them to the threads that have the info they need. We do see alot of people with the same issues over and over and although it does get old helping fix the same problems, we are still here doing it. This forum by far is the most friendly and helpful I have seen. JMO

Do you honestly think that people would pay attention to which section they are going to for help? They would likely wait a short time and post in another section if none arrived. I think we do very well here with getting people up and running. I have learned a tremendous amount from the people here as have others and do what I can to pass it on just as others here do. Mind if I ask why the critique on the way we handle tech support here?

Lol they could but who would follow the directions? And what dev level person is going into the noob level to help them figure out how to change their wall paper ?

i don't think that will work out very well. how does one tell what level you are at experience wise? i think it will complicate the forums more then it will help. the best thing is if you are on the forums and you want to participate and help others then by all means help to the best that you can. you do not have to participate. this forum is by far the most helpful and the most active. i know i have roamed all over the forums the past few weeks.

Any problems with my opinion is your opinion..I'm not here to bash..I'm here to say that HTC EVO 4g is the best out there..and I'm calling on ghetto admin..for a change..think of it as OS update..

I don't think anyone questioned your right to critique it, I just wondered why you were doing it. To me you are calling us out on something that we do freely and out of good will helping those that are having problems. No one here gets any benefits from helping others other than the knowledge that you did help someone. We are not always right but rarely do we ever have one leave that is not fixed and the person has more knowledge because of our help.

With regards to telling people going to Youtube and search threads, that is of little to no value to other pople.

If you have a particular Youtube video that can help, then link to that video. Telling someone to go search Youtube is no help at all.

Same thing with threads. If you see a thread that is useful, link it for other people. Just telling people to search, is of little value.

We're all here to try to help each other. You've generated a lot of posts recently, including a "dancing" thread that was irrelevant to the Evo area.

Please learn how to help others, or try not to clutter up the threads / forums with posts of little value.

If you just want to have fun, there's a lounge area that you can do this in. These sub-forums are intended to provide value and help to Android users.

No one said you couldn't speak your mind, thought we were just having a discussion....

Also there are some things we can and can't say for legal reasons and such, you understand that im sure. e.g. I can't point people to warez etc. its a social community and we are governed by it's guidelines and what is socially acceptable...

point is we do it and we do it well I've even helped owners of other phones who came in to our forum cuz they couldn't get help on their own.

You want to do it differently feel free and be super helpful and maybe your way sparks something or catches on but it would be nice if our gurus didn't feel attacked by your opinion of how they do their HOBBY.
