Root Unrevoked and Gingerbread?

Despite the attempts by mods to keep the discussion simplified, I'm still a little foggy on this rooted gingerbread thing. But I liked how easy rooting was the first time with unrevoked. Any chance I can dp something that simple soon?

Also, is there a stock, no sense version of 2.3 to put on the phone?

Lastly, I thought it's 3.0? Do we have a stripped version of gingerbread or did I miss something?

Are you currently rooted? Stock 2.3 comes with sense. If you want something without sense you will need to flash an AOSP rom that is based on 2.3. There are many out and most have everything working.

No, but it should be easy to strip it down, or look at some of the root rom options, when this gewts moved to the root subforum I will try and post up spome links for ya.

Lastly, I thought it's 3.0? Do we have a stripped version of gingerbread or did I miss something?
it was never expected that this would be sense 3.0 that will/may be on the 3d..but many were expecting sense 2.1, gingerbread is currently at build 2.3.4, this was a base of 2.3.3 ...keep in mind that sense from HTC and gingerbread from google are two different things. On bopth levels, the evo just received a watered down update

tried my best to answer what I can
will check back tomorrow. work is crazy today

We have to wait for a new root exploit to hit before anyone who accepted the OTA can root....No worries though, I'm sure the Dev's over there at Unrevoked are working on it.

Check out Deck's GB AOSP ROM or OMGB, they're pretty much pure GB and not Sense.

I was under the impression that Android 3.0 was Honeycomb. Was I mistaken?

One thing I love about this forum is the civility... thanks, all. Very helpful.

I'm already rooted, and turned off updates, so I guess I just need to read up on odex/deodex and get it done.

+1 on these forums being civil...always a helpful place to come when you have a question. As far as the odex versus deodex, you can find plenty of reading material online. To keep it simple though, odex is typically faster but you can not theme it. Deodex is not as fast as odex but can be themed/modified. Good luck with your flashing! :)
