Help Offical Moment Update

Before I updated to the CL14, I could go to Menu, Settings, About Phone, Status and under Battery status it would give me the % of the charge left. After the update, the Battery status only shows either "Not charging" of "charging". The battery icon on the top line shows, as before, if the phone is charging by animating the icon, and the green filling goes down as the battery is depleted. I liked having the % under Battery status so I could see if the battery was getting depleted and I needed to quickly set it to charge.

If you download Quick Settings it give you a battery percentage along with the ability to quickly toggle the wifi, bluetooth, gps...I don't know why they would have taken that away either. Unless they want people to stop obsessing about the battery mishaps?! lol.

ahhh i c what your saying...
"battery widget" works great, and if you want to see whats being used the most on your phone you can dl "spare parts" but if i were you i'd most def DL "battery widget"...its free and gives percentage and you dont have to go thru settings, prolly save ya some time...

Did you eventually find a place in the Raleigh area to get the update? I'm in Durham and haven't located a place that gives me any reason to trust them with my phone. I'd go to Raleigh if I knew of a place that has actually successfully installed this update.

Re: Raleigh, NC

I just spoke with "Cat," a technician at the Cary store. She said they are "doing the updates today", and "it takes about 45 min for the Moment."

Sprint Store

2226 Walnut St.
Cary, NC 27518
Phone: (919) 859-7500

She had no idea if or when Android might be updated (1.6 / 2.0 / or 2.1).

@CriticalCritic, I get the impression that this is the most knowledgeable, best staffed Sprint shop in the Piedmont of North Carolina. Anyone know otherwise?

Hi:

Anyone want to try the free app Sprite Mechanic? It can back up your apps as well. We know that My Backup and App Manager will restore your programs but they won't register in My Downloads or Market.

Maybe Sprite Mechanic will work. I'm sure not looking forward to re-downloading and setting up my phone for the third time when Android 2.1 comes out.

Anyone want to test Sprite Mechanic?

Took 2 moments to a sprint repair shop yesterday with mixed results. they was able to update my phone and bricked my ladys phone. Admitedly she is not amused. I am happy with the update thou. GPS seem to be better. keyboard seem to still lag in the lanscape mode. Need more time accessing the battery issue but from first look it seems to last alittle longer. i have noticed thou that the outside camera button has been to switched to open a msm instead of the camera. anyone seem this.

@ Matt & JohnIn...

Just had my phone updated here:
Southpoint Center
6409 Fayetteville Road, Suite 110
Durham, NC 27713
(919) 206-4077

One guy in the back knew exactly what the deal was... the guy who greeted me didn't. Dunno how long it took them, I let them have 90mins just in case. Everything looks good!

However... @ everyone else.
Beware of 'MyBackup Pro'!!!
It backed up many of my apps, but not all of them! I now no longer have my free version of Locale (now I'm gonna have to pay for the new version! WTF?)! I also lost about 20 others!
So watch out! Try something else!

Just picked up my phone, update was successful to CL14. According to the tech it was his 1st Moment he updated. He was actually also updating his own when I picked up mine.

I used MyBackup to save my apps/data without a problem but still had to go and reinstall the apps so they can be seen in the market as My DL's.

It'll take time to notice the differences, visually it looks the same except for the battery status only saying charging/not charging instead of having it in percentage. I'm using Battery Widget to cope with that while I further test out the battery icon in the notification bar.

2. Internal memory is now down to 199MB straight out of the store.
Does anyone know what it used to be? After restoring all my apps, then loading maybe 3 more, I found myself getting "out of storage space" errors in the Notification Bar, and when I went to ADB I saw I only had 4MB left.

I'm not rooted so I can't see what was is taking up all the space in /data, but I couldn't believe that some ~15 apps (the largest being only 5MB, with most hovering around what? 200K?) could take up 180MB of space.

I even looked around in "Manage Applications" to see if any particular app was using a lot of app data, and nothing. I ended having to actually uninstall a bunch of stuff.

I too have 158 mb left after about 16 downloads.

I was able to get the update (+1 for the Richmond, VA store on Midlothian Tpke), but ever since then my phone is showing 100% wake time as opposed to less than 30% pre-update. It is 100% under Android System Network Usage. I have only reinstalled all the apps I used to have. Settings all the same.. GPS/Wi-fi/BT off. I don't auto sync anything and Background data usage is disabled...

Anyone else experiencing this?
