Root Preparing Rooted Phone to sellback to Sprint...

Hey was just wondering if anyone in the forums have taken their phones back to Sprint to sell/return with it being rooted? I dont think most of them would look into things like the S-On, but I imagine some might restart the phone to see if there's a custom rom splash screen.

Just trying to determine how much work I want to put into preparing my phone to sellback to Sprint before the EVO 3D comes out. Which BTW did you know they are currently buying them back for $150?

Unrooting it takes 5-10 minutes. Instructions are in the Rooting for Dummies guide under the "After Rooting" section.

Are you guys seriously thinking of selling the Evo back to Sprint for $150????

This is like trading a nice car back to the dealer when you can get 50-80% more selling it privately.

If anyone wants to sell a nice Evo for $150, let me know. I might need a spare LOL.

First! I'll sell you mine (seriously). I asked the guy at my Sprint store and he said they weren't buying them back, so I was going to do the "Trade-In" with Radio Shack. If I sold it to you though I probably wouldn't have to worry about re-flashing sense though (even though it is a short process). :p

Does it have a clean ESN?

If it's a clean ESN, I think we have a deal LOL.

On eBay, Evo with bad ESNs are going for $160 or so, Evos with clean ESNs are selling for around $270 - $280, just so you know, in case you want to try to sell it for more.

If not, I will definitely be wanting to pick yours up (with clean ESN, good condition, etc) for $150. :D

That's crazy, who pays 280 for a used year old phone with new sweet phones coming out? Oh well...

You guys should really check the market, eBay, etc to see what the market values are. There are a lot of people who would love to have an Evo, those on inferior phones and can't upgrade officially, people who want one for Cricket, etc.

I'll buy your used Evos for $150 or less if you want...but I want you to be informed of the market values of your phones.

Also, do you REALLY think Sprint is doing you a favor by giving you $150 for your phones? Sprint is in this to make a profit. Just like car dealers, who will give you low trade-in values for your used cars, Sprint's trade in values, like other retailer's trade-in values, are artificially low.

Thanks for the tip, pretty sure my gf will get mine for free anyhow lol. I never thought sprint was doing me a favor but its convenient, more so than ebay...you pay for convenience.

Why would anyone want a phone with a bad ESN? Isn't it useless on Sprint's network?

Not sure where you are getting your numbers man...there's a big difference between BUY IT NOW and what people are actually getting for their used Evos. Also need to remember Ebay means shipping costs too. I looked on Craigslist (no shipping costs) and $100-$200 is the range depending on the accessories for sale with the phone. I still think selling back to Sprint is the smartest and easiest...as long as its still $150. Im assuming since we now got a launch date that the sellback price will be going down everyday till then. Im considering selling my evo this week so I ensure I get the most $$$.
