Root ally glitching

I'm running velocity 1.1 however I've had this problem since before I rooted it. It does this very annoying glitch where no matter what I'm doing it's like the back button is being pressed repeatedly and the search opens. It was fine for a while after I did the root and flashed the ROM, however now it's doing it again. I've tried everything I can think of, re-flashed the ROM after COMPLETELY wiping the phone, cleared and formatted the SD card, tried a different ROM, still the same story. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? Or is it just that time to replace the phone. It was also constantly restarting it's self so I check the terminals and made sure the battery was seated properly, didn't see a problem. The restart issue seems to have fixed it's self, however the other still remains.

My friend dropped his phone (htc eris) real nasty and its just keps moving to the left like he was moving the trackball to the left. If you have warranty take it stock and take it to verizon.

I'd love to just be able to take it back, however, I got it as a concierge line through work so the verizon store won't do anything about it and the guy who set me up with the account has since moved on and I can't get anyone to tell me who to get a hold of now so I pretty much got a catch 22, free phone and they pay the bill, I just can't use the phone.

what it most likely is, is that your keyboard somehow got pressed in a bit on the top left side near the search button, this sometimes happens to me when texting, ill hit the letter "e" and all of the sudden my email opens, very annoying but to fix it, i just repeatedly tap the serach button a few times and im good to go for a few days.

that's the weirdest thing I've ever seen lol. Well it works for now so thank you very much, I've almost forgotten what it's like to have a phone that just works right!
