So people will see fabs post first and not mine..
ApeX 2.0 for Droid X Gingerbread (.596 OTA) has finally reached the Release Candidate landmark! While this new build leans much more towards AOSP than previous versions, the same philosophy remains. Build a fast, clean, reliable ROM that is enjoyable to use, and customizeable.

Requirements
  • You must be on .596 OTA or a .596 based ROM
  • Kernel must be 2.6.32.9-g34b306d
    qgd748@il93lnxdroid09 #1
  • Baseband must be BP_C_01.09.12P

Disclaimer
Code:
As always, you must take responsibility for what you do to your own phone.
I have created this ROM and tested it to the best of my ability.
The instructions are written to make sure that users have success installing and using the ROM.
However, if anything goes wrong and your phone is damaged or rendered useless, I do not take any responsibility.

Additional Credits
I would like to especially thank kejar31 for teaching me his secret sauce technique for compiling AOSP apps for the Blur Framework. I'd like to thank jrummy16 and drod2169 for helping me on Gtalk and troubleshooting some issues, and _Mycahya_ for helping me fix some of the theming!

Of course, credits to P3Droid, Team Black Hat, MyDroidWorld for the Gingerbread leaks, the CyanogenMod team for many of the apps, Google for many more apps, and all the nice brave people on Twitter for testing this for me, helping me squash bugs, and submitting beautiful wallpapers!

If I left anyone out, please let me know so I can properly credit you!

Here's a quick port of the REVOlution theme by manup456 for Apex 2.0

Just flash in recovery, no need to wipe anything.

lol. No cross. I am NOT a big fan of green. My colors are black and blue my friend. I think I may have gotten beat up too much as a kid but that's beside the point.

Agreed. I like the stock theme too much and I love the Gblur widgets. As much as I love Faboulos and his work, I love the blur for my phone, at this point.

I just installed it.
I am definitely a big fan of having nearly zero blur on the X.
The phone itself has always proven to run smoother and battery life improves as well with having all the garbage not trying to launch in the background.
You don't have anything to lose especially since one can SBF back to .340

I am going to have to try out Apex though, I can always flash back... :D

Exactly.
Also, Once RC2 is ready, its all a breeze to upgrade.

My main reason for installing ApeX 2.0 RC1 besides disliking a bloated stock OS, is to actually try and discover something that needs a fix.
Every person that reports in an issue/bug etc, helps speed up the release of the next version.

The sooner the final version is out the better. Apex FTW. :D

I really like the stock colors...... In The Notification Bar!
I for one cannot understand what made Moto go with making all the settings menus etc black text on a white background.... wh what WHAAAAAAAAAT??????

I can live with the notification bar blue, don't know about the icon blue, but definitely not the black text on white background.
