Well where should I start..I have had my white Evo 4g for about 2 months now and love it. Today I decided I would order a case before work, got to work, had to rearrange ice skates on the rack and ...phone falls out of my pocket from atop I would say a 7-8ft ladder resulting in this:

Irony eh? Now, my touch screen still works flawlessly. The only problem I have with the phone is before a phone call when it vibrates to let you know you are connected the screen goes black but I can press the hold button to turn it back on... BUT after a phone call, the screen goes blank and I have to take out the battery to restart the phone. That is the only problem with the phone after the drop, everything else works as it did before. Now, I don't have TEP, I have the Best Buy insurance and well that was a bad Idea to get. I called them today and they said 30+days to send out my phone to fix or I can get a refurbished phone in a week. Are you kidding me?

The advice I am asking is should I order a new LCD screen and replace it myself or say F**k you Best Buy and get TEP back and get it replaced my the Sprint repair shop by my house for free? Also, do you guys think my internals are damaged because of the drop? Thanks!

I work for Best Buy Mobile. With the Evo's they sometimes have the option to do Rapid Exchange, which will give you a refreshed phone in 2-7 days. If the due have to send it out it can take up to 30 days but it normally takes 14 days. We also provide you with a loaner phone in the mean time. Not sure where you live but you can use the Geek Squad Black Tie Protection at ANY Best Buy. Ask to speak to there Best Buy Mobile Manager if they still give you problems. If that doesn't work let me know where you are from and I can go over there heads to help you out.

I heard you have to put down a 150$ deductible for the loaner? I may be wrong...but I read that. If anything, I still have my s30 instinct I could just reactivate. Thanks for the information though. Appreciate it. I will go tomorrow after work.

Excuse me mods but SHITTTTTTTTT!!! that sucks lol

My advice...well, get Sprint insurance when you can. $11 every month and a $100 deductible for your own fault breaks is a good deal for phones that now cost $400+.

For the meantime, you do have a few options.
-Take it to someone, a friend, someone off Craigslist for cheap. Only problem is that you'll end up having them break a seal that let's Sprint know that it hasn't been tampered with. Basically if they open up your phone and look around, they'll know that you messed around on the inside so they'll void your warranty.
-You could also take it to Best Buy and get the replacement. I wouldn't recommend waiting 30+ days. Remember, when they say days, they mean business days as in...in the next couple of months. You need a phone now. If you don't and don't mind waiting, I would say go for it. Replacements are sometimes good and sometimes bad. Sometimes they can be better because they worked out bugs. They can be bad because sometimes they didn't fix enough of the problems leaving you with an endless problem. However, if Best Buy is like Sprint, they may stop doing the temporary fixits and just let you get a brand new phone or get an entirely new phone. I've never had Best Buy warranty and by the sound of it...Thank you God...but who knows?
-You could also purchase a new screen online and fix it yourself for even cheaper than above. However you run the risk of damaging your phone even more as you have no idea what you're doing and you may tamper with some of the security seals.
-You could just leave it as is. It doesn't sound too bad except for having to take out the battery. You make that important call, take out the battery then realize that you said something wrong or did something wrong then gotta wait 15 minutes to call them back meanwhile it's been sitting in their head and now they think you're a jerk for not answering their phone calls lol

For myself, I have insurance. I go to Sprint and they order a new one or replacement and it comes QUICK.

My cousin lost hers and we called that morning and when we got back to the house in the evening, the package was already there waiting for us. Amazing.

That's my two cents. Good luck to you though...

EDIT: OH! By the way, Wells Fargo offers this really cool thing. Basically I have a credit card through them and they say that if I set up automatic bill pay through the credit card into my Sprint bill or whatever cell phone bill I have every month, they will pay for a replacement for whatever happens to my phone up to $200. It's worth a look into if you want to go for it or see if other banks/credit cards offer some type of similar service. That being said, if this happens again and you have Sprint insurance, my assumption is that you could take the $200, pay for the replacement at $100 and pocket $100 for yourself...I've never done it but heard it from representatives at my bank and from other credit card holders who talked about the service.

Personally I think all phone insurance are for suckers, and Dave Ramsey agrees with me.

There are people here who are willing to sell their Evos for $150, to upgrade to the Evo 3D that's coming out.

If you think about the $100 deductible with Asurion, and the monthly fee, you're better off just self-insuring and buying a used Evo here or eBay.

lol nevermind then. You could check around at other companies and see if they offer anything similar. Sounds like a great deal to me especially since I smashed my Evo in yesterday :/ I could've used that $200. And if you're like AndroidSPCS, you could use that $200 to go get a used one.

Personally I like the insurance because $100 for a brand new phone that normally costs $400+ is a great deal to me. Plus, they send the phones quickly whereas with eBay, Amazon, etc. you have to wait a couple days and I really can't do that with a phone. And with Craigslist or any of these other ones, I hate bartering with people and dealing with flakes and people that want to up the price on you at the last minute and driving a thousand miles and wasting gas....$11 extra a month+$100 doesn't sound so bad to me. Plus, if it is something that I had no control over, that $100 fee doesn't apply. My last phone I got a replacement for, the crappy Samsung Instinct s30, I had dropped on its face on the cement and the touch screen stopped working. So I took it into Sprint, acted really dumb about it all, "I don't know how it got like that." then they got me a brand new phone for free cause apparently Instincts had some touch screen issues hahaha. The next day, I upgraded to my Samsung Moment and sold the brand new replacement.

Sprint's insurance plan is partly why I don't want to leave them.

That's what I'm doing next time. SquareTrade has a $50 deductible and you pay $124 for a 2 year warranty. Only thing is you have to buy it within 30 days of purchasing the phone.

I dropped my s30 down a drainage sewer drunk one night while talking on the phone. Back slipped off and it fell right out of my hands. Not one crack, not one problem after retrieving it lol. Swear to you. One of the most durable touchscreen phones I have had or I'm just lucky and got a tank for one lol.

lol I suppose so. I hated that phone with a passion. Almost as much as I hated it's replacement...the Samsung Moment...I hated the fact mine was so durable. I wanted it to break so bad so they could tell me to just pick another phone. I will never shop at that Radio Shack simply because of that guy who sold me onto Sprint and that phone, "It's currently Sprint's best phone..." bullshit...hahaha

Sorry to get off topic. Just reminiscing in my hatred for that phone. :p
