Data Plan Promotional Discount?

My wife works for VZW and confirmed this to be true, however, you typically can't just ask for it. It's a "save tool". You have to either threaten to cancel your plan, mention that your bill is too high or you mention a friend has the plan. She couldn't confirm the minutes minimum though. If you have less and feel ballsy, try it. The least they could say is no. She said she gives it to everyone that asks regardless of minutes on the plan.

Data Discount will work on any talk and text plan that is not 700 (yes, 450 will work). It requires a 12 month contract extension from today's date (yes, you can get it within 12 months of last upgrade and it will not extend contract).

No, it will not last forever. It's a 12 month promotion and the promo will be ending shortly (very shortly) so hurry. Any questions?

Everyone is getting a different story. Strange.

I got this discount on one of my lines just before Memorial Day. Here's what I was told by the VZW Loyalty rep:

1) It supposedly will end in 12 months.

2) If you have a coprprate discount on data, this will supersede the corporate discount and not be added on to it.

3) 1400 minute plan is required. (Not sure if unlimited texting is required.)

HeHatesMe IS a loyalty rep.

Yes, promo ends in 12 months. The Corp discount is usually greater than the promo discount, so it will not work. (Corp discount is only on primary line, discount will work on secondaries through). Unlimited texting is a requirement.

The promo is not regional, it's nationwide. Make sure you are speaking with the loyalty department, as a lot of other departments are not clear on the availability or how certain promos work.

Any questions?

Yes, I have a question. Why won't it work for a 700 minute plan, but having more or less is ok? I have 3 lines, 700 minutes, unlimited text, and 2 smart phones. I'm gouged for $150/month. Is it fair that others can get the discount and I can't because of a few minutes? What's the difference!?!?!?

^^This here, but it's not a data discount. It's a discount of $9.99 fee for having secondary lines, so you still pay $29.99 for data on those secondary lines, just not the $9.99 to have the secondary line open.

The phones are under my girl's name, and she gets a corporate discount, so this promo only applied to my line since the corporate discount on her line is greater than what this current promo provides.

I'm not Verizon Wireless, so I'm unable to answer that one, sir. Although it won't save you money, you could switch to 1400 since it is only $20 more.. get the discount and essentially have doubled your minutes for nothing for a year. That's the best I have.

Well, I do get 26% off my primary line, 20% off my data so if I added $20 in minutes, minus the discount and the $19.98 for the two additional lines, I will save about $5... May or may not be worth it. Thx!

This is true. I have an old Family Share Connect plan. 1400 shared minutes. I called and asked about the loyalty discount. They said it was for anyone with at least a year with Verizon. The discount wouldn't take away nor add anything "unless" you had less then a year left on your contract which would in turn extend it to a year. Another thing you have to think about is if you have an outdated plan such as we do, things can get tricky. We have 3 lines on our plan. 2 of which aren't smart phones. They both add $9.99 per line for internet. Being they now have new plans, we would have to upgrade to said plan which would change their internet cost to $19.99 each. That would add $20.00 a month to our cost. Minus my $10.00 loyalty discount. We would be paying $10 more for a month than we would be paying now lol. May be confusing but make sure you don't get fooled into switching plans. We stayed with our old plan.

Incorrect. They may have told that to you, but you can have that discount added at any point and time and it would work.

i saw a couple people say that you have to have a family plan or multiple lines on one plan. is this confirmed or has someone with a single line gotten the promo? and if not, how hard is it to get verizon to combine 2 plans into 1? lol

The discount is available on all single line plans as long as they are Talk AND Text plans; 450, 900, 1350 or unlimited.
