but will be getting a replacement from Tmobile. My current GS2 suffers from the 'red spot' issue when using the camera.

I contacted Tmobile who advised me to take the phone to my local shop (Crawley, West Sussex). The shop assistant took one look at it and confirmed it was defective.

I was advised to re-contact Tmobile Customer Services to arrange for a replacement as my phone hadn't been an instore upgrade. A phone call was made and a replacement has been ordered. Excellent service from Tmobile Crawley and Customer Services.

I'm hoping that my new one will be perfect........:) I'll keep you guys and girls updated

Miss Diva.

Sorry to hear the news but just one question. Has it been proved now that the "red spot" issue is in fact an issue / problem that can be cured? I ask because my understanding from threads is that this problem hasn't been cured, so you may be replacing with a handset with the same problem.

Just for reference, i too have the red spot problem.. but never got it changed as I thought it couldn't be fixed..

I may be wrong.. and I hope I am for your sake..

Good question, Tmobile just accepted that there is a problem and were happy to sort out an exchange. However it may be the case that the new one has the same problem......the sales assistant had a GS2 and there was no red spot on that one.

I have read that some units have been 'cured ' by firmware updates but have also read that some updates have made the red spot appear... Blimey what a carry on!

Just wish that Samsung would acknowledge that some unit have problems with overheating ,gps lock ,red spots, random switching off etc etc .

Will just have to wait and see.

Maybe they have? Of course only time, will tell. (As in a few months down the line, all of these issues disappearing from brand new handsets)

But I've got my phone from T-Mobile on their second or third batch. So they got the first batch in, then they got a second, but no third due to Samsung not supplying them.
(I'm hoping) that this was perhaps because Samsung were fixing/altering the manufacturing process (again I'm assuming) that causes some of these units to have these problems.

And so my phone hasn't any of these problems and probably because it was one that was manufactured at a much later date than many of the faulty units on here.

OF COURSE, I could be completely wrong, and it could've been T-Mobile's factory in Germany where they brand the phone, or something like that that was holding up deliveries.

Found this thread right after I convinced myself that I could live with this. Mine has a red spot about the size of a 50 pence coin. And I can see it only in low natural light indoors. Not outside or when using the camera's flash. I really don't know if I should ask for it to be replaced or not. Reading what people are posting in other threads I am worried that I might get one with other problems.
