State of Confusion (FL too)
Odd thing that just happened that I want to share regarding LauncherPro and custom fonts after flashing Gingerbread 2.3 and, hopefully, get some feedback about...

So I nandroid backed up, wiped dalvik (albeit with a little "E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2" issue) and flashed the ROM. I rebooted and everything loaded up fine..looked great...LauncherPro loaded up...all my customizations on my LauncherPro home screen was good to go...I had Gingerbread! Everything looked fine EXCEPT I noticed that I lost my custom font!!?? I installed the "Decker" font months ago as a replacement for my system font while I was using froyo by following instructions at a link at XDA:

300 Flashable Font Packs - Change your system fonts the easy way! - xda-developers

Simple flash technique...download the font pack, flash the zip, reboot.

And HERE my problem...

After flashing the font, my phone booted up in Sense, not LauncherPro. No problem I thought...I could just launch LauncherPro, re-establish it as the default launcher, and I would be back.

NOPE...NOT working...and here is the ODD thing...

I CANNOT launch LauncherPro at all! It was NOT showing up in my app drawer even though it was listed as "installed" in Titanium Backup. Also, I could not even RUN the app from within Titanium Backup...the "run app" button was NOT SHOWING.

I uninstalled LauncherPro and then went to the Market to reinstall. Download and install process went fine but, once again, LauncherPro did NOT show up in my app drawer and could NOT be launched from within Titanium...?? I even tried to reinstall the app via Titanium...the option to reinstall was available and process seemed to occur but STILL nothing!!

So, I AM nandroid backed up so I am not too, too nervous but this is QUITE a weird situations. I am not sure why this happened and was wondering if anyone might know the reason why and how I can FIX??

I read that perhaps the issue is that the fonts I was using in the above link to customize the phone under Froyo might NOT work with Gingerbread...that Gingerbread perhaps requires the newer EDIFY fonts?? Could that have caused the mess up that I experienced??

I RESTORED my nandroid backup so, as I am writing this, I am using Gingerbread 2.3 but my custom fonts are lost. LauncherPro IS my Launcher that I am currently using, HOWEVER, someone REALLY WEIRD!!..I just went to look at my app drawer and LauncherPro is NOT THERE!! Also, I went to the list of my installed apps in Titanium Backup Pro and although LauncherPro is listed, the "Run App" button is MISSING!!

Why is LauncherPro not in the app drawer?? Why can't it be launched via Titanium? And why did Sense replace LauncherPro (with NO WAY of getting LauncherPro back at the moment) when I flashed a custom font? Any thoughts??

THANKS!!

edit:

looks like you got it.. but have other questions..

Actually got it but DON'T got it...

LauncherPro is running BUT it is (1) NOT in my app drawer and (2) cannot be run from within Titanium Backup Pro!!

Perhaps because it is a LAUNCHER there is a different way of accessing it in Gingerbread?? I don't know...looking for some guidance. I have NOT tried to get back my custom fonts for fear of LauncherPro to Sense and then, as before a couple hours ago, I won't be able to launch LauncherPro.

So, I'm still looking for some help... :(

there is an update in the market, i just saw this.. launcherPro+ M22-3D Icons Pack..

edit**
there is also, no ADW launcher in the app drawer, there is also no Zeam Launcher in the app drawer, and i am running zeam launcher on mine.

I wish i could say but i never changed from sense ui before the GB update. my friend on his HTC incredible, does not have LP option either.. it just reboots Sense.. so.. he is running Android 2.2

well launcher pro, or any launcher for that matter, should not show up in your app drawer. launchers are not apps that run like that.

same goes for titanium as you don't really run a launcher. also run may not be there as the app is already running.

I have not tried gingerbread official yet so that's all I can say.

I appreciate the LP update info but that Icons Pack has no real bearing here.

HOWEVER, the information about your friend reverting back to Sense and rebooting Sense IS interesting...seems to be the same issue I have. And looks like I'm going to revert back to 2.2 until there is a fix... :( Actually I can use 2.3 if I do not try to get fancy and reinstall my custom ROM. Perhaps I'll do that...

I'm kinda a moron so I will leave everything up for people to learn from my ignorance...and my growth! :D

So I nandroid restored back to 2.2 and looked around. What I did NOT realize was that FOREVER in my 2.2 froyo, LauncherPro was (1) NEVER in my app drawer and (2) NOT available to "run app" in Titanium!!

Soooooo, what I think I need to do is to reflash 2.3, then go to Applications -> Manage apps and REMOVE THE DEFAULT SETTING for Sense at which time LauncherPro SHOULD become available as my launcher...will advice on my ignorance update soon!! :D

Well everyone, moron here confirmed!! :D:D

For whatever reason the update, for me, reverted my launcher back to Sense, I did not think to just clear the defaults in the HTC Sense app settings. And when I did...VOILA...my LauncherPro was back...like magic!!

So, if someone would like to make me a Moron Avatar, I'd GLADLY accept!!

:D:D

hey for the heck of it..check out the free app..clear default home.

Thanks...I had been using HomeSmack before the update but uninstalled it because I didn't have the need to switch, sticking with LauncherPro at my launcher.

There was some suggestion that ClearDefaultHome wasn't working too well...HomeSmack was great for me. Here are a list of options:

ClearDefaultHome

Home Manager
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.carp.HomeManager&feature=search_result

HomeSmack
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.homesmack&feature=search_result

I'll start working on your avatar :p

Thanks...but please leave the headphones out of my avatar ;):D !!

Thanks so much scudder. I had the same problems that you had and I spent a lot of time trying to figure it out. Hopefully the creators of the app will add the fix in their LauncherPro installation page. Take care....

It's not a fix...it is inherent in the phone OS..even before Gingerbread...to allow the use to choose their default Home launcher app. The only problem I found was that the 2.3 update SWITCHED my default Home to Sense. I hadn't thought about or switched around my Home launcher in so long that, at first, I didn't even think of resetting the default setting in Sense that I later figured out. Other than my delay in realizing that, the phone and Home and Sense functions are working fine...
