Juice Defender

For my Dinc2, is there a certain Juice Defender app that I should download and purchase? Also, is this easy to install for a novice?

I'm running JuiceDefender Ultimate, but you could probably get away with the Beta version or the Free version. It's easy to install and use, but the custom settings can be a little confusing.

From my point of view I'd say don't bother with JD at all. I used it on my Eris and started out with it on the Inc2 but I don't really see the point on this phone. If I was trying to get 3 days battery life - maybe.

Have you gone without it for a while?

hi--I just got my Dinc2 a week or so ago. I have not downloaded Juice Defender yet. I come from a blackberry so it's been a tough transition regarding battery life. I read through various threads about JD so hence I was curious what it was all about..

Didn't intend anything against JD - it does what is claims for sure and the free version is easy to use. The default settings will work for most.

I, personally, just haven't seen a need for it yet on this phone and try to minimize the apps I keep. I have the stock battery, keep GPS on, have the screen >50% and the battery last 30+ hours for me. Since I normally charge overnight this is all I need. If I used it more heavily I can see that something like JD might be useful.

JD is a great app. I'm not using it right now anymore, but it works quite well. I was pushing 48 hours (estimated) of battery life with my extended battery based on how I had it setup.

Just a quick question ... Why do people need more than a day per charge? I put my phone on a charger every night with between 20%-40% battery remaining.

I have used JuiceDefender since day 1 with my Atrix. It has been a great help with battery life on my phone. I use the Aggressive setting.

Well, there's the obvious: because they can. That's why I did, but I was also curious and on drugs when I decided to do this (prescription painkillers for pain).

That said, I can only think of a few reasons where I might be concerned with it, but that involves traveling halfway around the planet and such. Also, multiple days hiking without any access to power.

I get the camping and such ... but turn off the network ... who needs internet/facebook/email/ect when they are camping anyway? Turn off the network and you get 4 days on a single charge.

I'm not trying to be an ass ... just been curious about this, thats all

Nope, I agree completely. I really don't have a good answer for you. Hell, I'm almost always by a power source.

I flew to south Dakota couple weeks ago for one day to see mount rushmore. Had to use navigation, took TONS of pictures. Using internet to check bunch of flights (I'm delta employee and I fly only if their are open seats still so have to constantly check the web).
Airport in Rapid City, South Dakota is a little regional hub with only a couple gates. No outlets really available on top of the fact that I didn't bring charger because I was supposed to be home by 7pm.

Flight got delayed 3 hours so me and my daughter play angry birds and when we finally get on plane my phone is dying. We get to our first stop and we are too late to get our connecting flight so we are stuck in st Paul for the night. At this point my phone is hit. I need to find a hotel, get a ride to hotel, book a flight for next day, and call people and check in. Couldn't do practically any of that.

Long story shortp) that trip is what convinced me to get extended battery. For me battery life being optimized is a MUST.

I'm using the free version of Juice Defender on the default setting. It definitely helps save the battery and so far I haven't seen any downside. I'm occasionally in situations where I need to make very long calls and with my previous phone I came very close to the battery going dead. Since JD is free why not use it?

I'm hitting 40% by noon so yeah, I can see the attraction of an extended battery.

Correction, 47% and it is quarter after nine in the morning. Granted this is a heavy usage day but still...

Heavy usage will kill it, especially because the display eats a ton of battery. But, I would also consider taking a look at what apps you're using, if you're using a network connection whether or not it's wifi or 3G, as well as checking display brightness as well. There's a variety of things that can influence it that JD may or may not help with.
