Hey guys,
I'm in Australia, using 3 network.I have a HTC Desire HD which is currently running Android 2.2. 2 nights ago, I got a notification for the Gingerbread update, downloaded it and hit install now. The phone rebooted to a screen with a triangle with an exclamation mark in it, and the droid guy. I waited for about 10 minutes, the same screen was there, then I fell asleep. I saw the screen the same way I left it before I slept, took the battery out so i can at least use it. And this whole day, I've been trying to update it, but still no luck. I did a factory reset, downloaded the update several times and tried installing it, it still gave me the same screen. I tried unrooting my phone, then tried it again same thing happened. I did most of the things I could find on the net, but still didn't work... I called 3 (three) AU network about it, they told me to go to a store but I wanted to know if anyone could help me before I go to the store and wait there the whole day for nothing, and I have rooted my phone, so they won't be doing anything, rather than doing my head in along with my parents.

I'm with 3 AU, had the phone for 2 months, rooted with S-Off.
Please Help!!!

I think that I've heard of this issue before... when you rooted, did you install the 3 ROM or an unbranded version?

I think that, if you install the 3 version of the standard ROM, you should be ok to grab the upgrade and then install.

Yes I have installed Stock 3 ROM.

Ah... right... not sure then - just knew that trying to install Branded firmware on a phone with non-branded firmware wouldn't work.

It downloads the update, but doesn't install it. I have tried unrooting it and then doing the same thing, still no luck. I also tried another SD Card with it.

Just a thought but, when you got S-Off... did you change to SuperCID (CID1111111 or HTC-1111)? The Carrier ID may be what's not letting you install Carrier branded firmware?
