I am not a newb but I am not sure why one might want to choose cyanogen or aosp over velocity.

what are the functional differences

I guess the advantage of aosp and cyan over velocity would be a large dev community, but the ally branch would still need to be maintained by someone ( velocity team for now maybe)

I think the development of Velocity should should continue on a stock ROM base at least until CyanogenMod is stable and Ally is included in nightly builds and then, maybe make a CyanogenMod based OR AOSP Velocity? I really like the scripts and some other features of Velocity. I would like to see it continued in some form.

The Ally probably won't be officially supported by Team Douche.. it will likely be up to our development community to maintain the Ally distribution.
Does the Thunder Bolt have GetItNowMarketings Recovery Backup system?
When the Day comes I am leaning toward ThunderBolt because you guys (Developers) seem to own that Phone. Is it better than The Revolution?

I think velocity as it is now is way more functional and better than any aosp or cyanogen rom out there. I for one would definatly recommend the velocity team to stay with velocity unless they can make a fully functional rom with hardly any failures. Also velocity supports full camera keyboard and data connection right out of the box without the need to tinker with settings. Id say if you can make velocity better then go for it

I vote in with the new, I absolutely love velocity, but i think the velocity team could do more with the cyanogenmod base given that it is at stable point. I dont think there is anything you can do now that you couldnt with aosp, gingerbread.

+1. I think everything you guys have accomplished up until now is amazing. I'm always someone looking for more however. Development of Velocity has slowed over time as the limits of the Ally have gotten closer. An aosp built rom would let us push on toward the future, and I can't even imagine the possibilities that await.

id say work on AOSP velocity... its how the Ally got popular and cm7 is great... but having a choice and/or competition between devs is good

btw thanks to all the ally devs, i was bummed in my 2-year contract with my stock ally, then i rooted and i couldnt be happier. a free phone thats faster than my friends 150 dollar phone? bragging rights, and its all because of the devs. thanks guys

For what its worth, I think any of the options are good ones except letting Cyanmod take over. Probably a dumb question, but would a cyano based remix rom be 2.3 based? The velocity scripts are killer and to loose those would be a step backwards in my opinon. Between GNM, Trident, D2All, Sav. I think all of you are more than capable of producing amazing work whether individually or as collaboration, as evidenced by Velocity and Frunisher! Whatever you Dev's think is best is fine by me as you all know possess an immense amount of knowledge when it comes to this.(LOL@ D2All-I like the Ballmer Peak)
