Root New ROMs by Drew Garen!

Does it seem fishy to anyone else that he always has multiple ROMs out mere hours/days after releases of new frameworks?

I just have trouble believing either A) that they're actually cooked much past stock + removal of the bloat APKs, or B) that the work is actually being done (e.g. borrowing, or running already-modified older frameworks on new releases, or whatever).

I haven't tried any of them, so maybe that's not fair.

Also, if Crespy is indeed a complete rip of ApeX, that's just downright shitty and I suggest all his ROMs be removed from the root sticky. We don't need to support thieves.

Let's give him a chance. I sent him an email requesting that he revise his credits.

And there's no doubt that Crespy is "based" on Apex. I ran it through a binary comparison and just about every file matched :)

I guess, but what kind of credit "revision" is acceptable?

"Entire ROM created by Fabolous.
Tweaks to ROM name by Drew Garen."

That's not credit. That's taking someone else's term paper, slapping the whole thing between quote marks with a citation at the end, and turning it in.

^^^ yes^^^

Fab if you ran it through a binary comparison and it was almost bit for bit, what do you think the odds are on that being a random occurance? We have to be talking DNA odds here. Wrong is Wrong is Wrong

Just flashed Broodcomb 4. Settings disappeared and home button won't work (these were issues experienced by large numbers of people on previous versions of Broodcomb as well). Back to Apex for me. Love Apex and figured I'd at least explore some DG ROMs before settling on one (always do this rather than settling for the first one I like), but now I see that I shouldn't bother fixing what ain't broke.

Taken directly from Drew Garen's website... I in no way created this and give all credit to the original author Drew Garen
See... I give credit when I copy and paste (is this wrong, probably... is it funny... hell yes)
June 8, 2011: CRESPY 1 HAS BEEN PULLED FOR REVISIONS DUE TO THE FACT THAT AOSP APPS WERE COMPILED FROM FABOLOUS ROM. I HAVE RECEIVED HIS FILES FROM SPACEGHOST29 AND WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS UNTIL FABOLOUS (@bigxie) EMAILED ME. I AM NO LONGER ASSOCIATION MYSELF WITH SPACEGHOST, IF YOU HAVE ANY COMPLAINTS YOU CAN EMAIL SPACEGHOST AT SpaceGhostTY@gmail.com THANKS TO SPACEGHOST I AM BEING CALLED A KANGER AGAIN. I HOPE THIS CLEARS THINGS UP.

Pretty shady? Really?

You guys, this man isn't making money off this crap and you guys rag on him so hard... GET A LIFE.

Cut the guy some slack, if its an honest mistake just leave it be...

Honest mistake? This isn't the first time this has happened. Someone found the Apex Blurb widget in one of his old ROMs...he didn't even bother to change the sayings. If these are all honest mistakes then this guy is an idiot, and personally I do not trust him with writing the software for my phone.

I see, I was unaware that this is typical of him if that is true...

As a user, I could care less where the parts came from to make the ROM, but I do lose respect for those stealing work.

I am surprised at how obsessive some people are on ownership of Android related things, especially when its an open source OS and we should all be here to help each other...

It's not "obsessiveness" over ownership, but rather "irritation" that people take the things you worked very hard on, spent countless hours working on to make it work properly, at the end to not get some type of credit for your work; sometimes your work gets used, and the user claims it as their own, that is not acceptable at all.

Most people just apply themes and ROMs, and just like you say have this mentality "...I could care less where the parts came from..." It shouldn't be like that.

I suppose a lot of people (not everyone though) don't care because they don't actually do any work, and don't spend the countless hours making things work and look good.

Anyway, that's enough of that, I could go on, and on, and on, but I won't.

I think Fabolous should get his credit......PERIOD!
