Root PRL Update problem

I did not run the gingerbread update on my rooted stock rom evo yet. However I did run the PRL update Monday. I think I , as my mother would say, "made a boo boo" When I did it a bunch of my apps disappeared. Well not actually disappeared the Icons went back to stock ones on some and completely disappeared on others like dolphin but the text is still under where the icon was. I get the message " The linked program is no longer installed on your phone. I went to reinstall them but when I go to the market to reinstall the buttons come up to do it but nothing happens when I push the install and permission buttons. Have I screwed up really badly? What can I do to fix this?

Thanks for the help in advance, I'm glad you guys, and gals are hear to help!

Oh yeah, since your rooted, go to the all things root section. They've had the new gingerbread Rom for rooted phones for a few days. Look at the (Mik Roms) Mikg. Rom...its great, fast, and you'll love it. I just flashed it...great. That's the section you should be in ,if your looking for the update.
The first thing I need to do is figure out why I can't access my apps I lost after doing that PRL update on Monday. I need to fix this so I can do a back up and wipe the phone. BTW how do I know this rom will work with all my apps? Also It said this rom runs sense 3.0 I thougth that wouldn't work on EVO due to hardware limitations.

Do you have a nandroid you can go back to to get your icons/apps fixed?

Sense 3.0 will likely not come to the Evo but due to the fact that the Devs for Evo are AWESOME, we can get it and now in a stable rom for our enjoyment.....Stock unrooted phone owners will be jealous!:D

Like xtreme says going back to a nandroids should fix things. Your prl should stick with your nandroids as well as like your radios they do not change.

Also mikg rom is sense 2.1 with some sense 3.0. There are two gingerbread roms that have full on sense 3.0 but they are in beta stages. You can get them in the new sticky http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/284413-roms-kernels-download-page.html

I have never had a PRL affect apps...

I would try to reboot into recovery, wipe dalvik and cache, reboot

if they still are not working try a nandroid if you have one (if you don't have one make one as soon as you have this issue fixed)

if that doesn't work..hard reset , make a nandroid, then choose stock or custom rom and move forward....

and of course..always update your data profile after updating prl :p

I DID try to run the gingerbread update on my EVO. I did it before I knew I wasn't supposed to run it on a rooted phone. I Didn't mention it because I didn't believe anything happened when I ran it. I got the yellow triangle with the exclamation mark in it above the android. I went back to settings and it said I had android 2.2.
I then did run the PRL update on the subsequent Monday.
The problem appears to be now that the apps that were on the SD card aren't working. They are still on the card because I looked in Astro and the file folders are there and have data.
I didn't have a nandroid. I did have a titanium pro backup. I think that one backs up on to the SD card somewhere. I can't get titanium backup to reinstall on the phone. I tried to uninstall and that didn't seem to work either.
IS there a way to find the titanium backup file and do something with it? The reason I ask this question is because right now I can't seem to get window to recognize the card when I plug it in as a drive.
I tried to download better terminal from the market but I can't get the phone to let me "Accept Permissions" to download the app.
I do have 3 month old copy of my SD card on my pc.

I sure would like to figure this out and get my phone working again.
Then I want to flash the new stock rom of 2.3 and move on.
I just don't want to loose my messages, call history and phone book.
I suppose I can make a list of my apps to put them back, if I have to. aI guess I would loose all my settings.
IF someone out there can tell me what to do to fix this I sure wood appreciate it.
I have learned to do a Nadroid and keep it on my PC

were you using dark tremor a2sd on the previous Rom? if so it sounds like the new Rom doesn't have a2sd support. keep in mind the stock rooted Rom will not either.

but that may not be what is wrong. try this...boot into hboot and what do you see... I have a feeling you lost root

My thoughts too Ed. Once I read titanium won't dl, my immediate thought was s-on.

Like Ed posted, do you still have s-off?
Power down, hold volume down and power until hboot appears, does it say s-on or s-off?

By the way I can open this app by going to the my apps in the android market.
it sounds like the new Rom doesn't have a2sd support I used unrevoked3 to root the phone I did not flash a new Rom.

I'm not sure where this leaves me with my EVO. I still need to know if I can get my apps running again. I can't get titanium backup to run or delete. I don't have a nandroid. I'm really in over my head here. I could really use some Ideas on what my next move should be to get my apps back or somehow start all over again. In other words I'm stumped?

can you uninstall titanium backup and re-download it from the market?

I got a reply from the people at titanium backup, and they said the same thing you guys did, that I must have lost root.
I used unrevoked 3 to root the phone, and kept the stock rom. What do I need to do to get root back? Can I run unrevoked 3 again?
If not, What should my next move be?
Do I need to take the SD card out make a copy wipe it and find the files I need to start over?

If you still have s-off, I don't think you have completely lost root. You may not have a rooted rom now but with nand unlocked(s-off) you should be able to reflash recovery and your rom if needed. Do you still have recovery?

I've read a few instances of that aps2sd method going bad. First I would back up your SD card to your computer. You can do this by either removing your SD card and using a card reader or by just plugging your phone into PC and dragging them over to a folder.

Then uninstall that appspro or what ever its called. Then use a file explorer and find the folder android.secure you either just empty this folder out or delete the whole thing. Warning this will delete any apps you moved over to your SD card. But since you can't use them anyway who cares.

Now go to the market and see if you can redownload titanium. If so you should be able to re-install your apps.

If not we may need to clear your market cache. And or find the folder that that program moves stuff too. The android.secure is where the native android os moves apps to.
