Looks like July for Galaxy S II and VZW

I really didn't think it will come this early for VZW. But considering that it's released oversea on early May, 2~3 months delay to U.S kind of makes sense. Our android fellows over at U.K seem to love it. It topped iPhone4 in May sales chart.
Even without LTE, this is damn good phone with Super AMOLED+, 1Gb RAM, 16Gb internal storage, 1.2Ghz exynos AP. The Exynos processor in GSII seems to perform graphic tasks very fast and OMAP4 is probably the only rival to it now. Optimus 3D and Bionic are coming with OMAP4.

Lol - just got my droid charge, too.

Me too...but this summer is when tiered data is supposed to come into effect and it could happen right before the SII launches.

It's also not likely that this phone will have LTE, they haven't had it anywhere else it releases and it'd compete directly with the charge and basically make it obsolete.

I got mine for $200 from amazon so i'm not complaining about overspending or anything.

Wait. Can I get a phone at Costco, return on day 89 of the 90 day return window, and return the second phone 89 days later if the phone I want to be on hasn't been released?

That would be a 6 month stop gap!

They won't let you do so. Only one return/exchange is accepted. So it's only 90 days, but still much better than 14 days from VZW.

Vzw version will have 2 gb memory. What phone on Verizon has ever had more than 8 gb? Come on. Just another way for them to trim costs. Bastards.

"You said July, Verizon!"

"We never said which fiscal year, sucker!"

July = September or October

That would be lame. Samsung lists the SG2 as a 16gb or 32gb build option.

This will be a good test for how lame VZW really is.

On one hand, I see big red keeping it 3G as to not compete with the Charge. However, it will for sure be HSPA+ on AT&T and T-Mobile with 21mbps capability. I'm sure Sprint will cram WiMax in. As powerful as the GSII is, it's pretty damn sad if it's a 3G CDMA device with measly realistic peak speeds in the low 2mbps range. I was playing with speedtest on my Charge while sitting in a meeting at work today and got 25mbps down, 7 up. When gingerbread comes, this phone will be very snappy and with 4G to boot. I think if the GSII is 3G only, I'll be holding on to the Charge and waiting on the GSIII. Probably not a bad idea as it will be qHD with the next gen Super AMOLED.

It doesn't look like T-mobile is getting GSII but AT&T will. Even though GSII on AT&T will have HSPA+ radio maxed at 21Mbps, it won't have any speed above 7Mbps in most places, more like 2~3Mbps mostly. So even if GSII Function doesn't have LTE (very likely), it won't be at significant disadvantage relative to GSII Attain on AT&T. Samsung might push out LTE version of GSII toward end of this year and GSIII next year will have it for sure. I think holding onto Charge until GSIII on Verizon is not bad idea.

jinwons, it sounds like you too are coming over to the Droid Charge... I concur with your assessment, the GSIII will probably have the 4G/LTE radio... However, if the Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G/LTE with Honeycomb 3.1 is a success, standby, the late fall may see Samsung throw a smoking fastball right at the heart of IPhone 5.0, the fruits meow... I think it should be called Blade Runner, The one Droid to Rule them All. The NEXUS Supreme...

Rumors, rumors, rumors. If it's like the re-release date of the Droid Charge where everyone was in the dark of when it would go on sell. That's when many had the phone in stock and just couldn't sell it. Now you're talking about the next release and who knows when VZW will have a dual-core 4G phone available this year.

Yeah, with current battery technology, 4G & dual core should give you about 15 minutes of battery life....if you keep the phone off. :D
