How long does it take to get an app from the store?

Hi,

I just bought my first app on the android market. Its been like an hour and i havent gotten a single thing yet. I had several iPhones (including an iPhone 4) and i was used to get them immediately...

Is this normal? I already got the email with the purchase confirmation

Please help!

Just so you know: i tried doing what you told me to do and it didnt work. when i go to the market on my phone it says that its already bought. I touch it and it says: your dowload will start start now but it never does...

Since it shows already bought that means the accounts are sync'ing. Others have had download issues from the market in recent days, but it's working okay for me. Maybe it's a regional thing.

When it says the download will start, do you get the progress bar and just sits at 0% or does it throw an error?

If you can't get it using WiFi, try a 3G connection.

When installing apps on the Iconia I have often had to start the download 2x, the first time it just sits with the progress bar scanning but the download icon in the bottom right (remember, Honeycomb) never shows. I've been going the opposite direction with the Droid (uninstalling as I find the app works on the tablet) so I don't know with that one.

- When I go to the market on my phone, it says its been already purchased. A few hours ago, I used to click on it to try to install it and it would say something like: "Verifying source" or something like that, with a green bar showing over the app icon like if it was about to download but it would never even start. Now it just says: your download will start soon, but it never does and nothing else happens

- I tried using wifi and 3G
- I have my google talk working
- I've turned off the phone several times
- When i go to the store from my laptop, it doesnt say its already purchased so i could buy it again.
- I tried to make it work again (by going to the market to try to download it again, since it says its already purchased on my phone) and then get a free app a few seconds later and i would get that free app with no problem. I tried that several times, even upgrading apps i already own and everything thats free works.

I sent an email to the developer and this is what i got:

"
Sorry for the problems. This is actually an Android Market problem which is controlled by Google not me. The Android Market is very bad about reporting errors or status.

I checked the status of your order, it shows as:
New - Customer review in progress

Google Checkout says this means (https://checkout.google.com/support/sell/bin/answer.py?answer=45175&hl=en_US)
Customer review
When Google detects questionable activity related to an order you receive, Google will mark the order with a Customer review in progress status and perform fraud detection checks on the order to reduce your exposure to risk. During this time, you won't be able to charge the order.
In general, we complete reviews within four to six hours. Certain orders posing a higher potential risk may require more time as Google specialists perform even more extensive fraud detection checks for your protection. We may also contact you directly as a backup precaution. If Google determines that an order is high-risk or doesn't comply with Google Checkout policies, the order will be cancelled for your protection and cannot be reinstated.
Once Google confirms the validity of the order, the order will display a New status. At this point, you can safely charge the buyer's credit card and ship the order. Remember to charge the order within the appropriate appropriate time frame in order to be guaranteed funds.

----
This review should end today or tomorrow and you will be able to download normally."

I contacted google and they havent even written me back...

I can't believe this is happening... I've used my mastercard on amazon, ebay, skype, app store, I've bought tickets on delta.com, american airlines, aircanada, I've paid hotels in the us, Mexico, Argentina, my country Chile, and I had NEVER had a single problem with it and these stupid kids from google playing to be developers and programmers need over a day to certify it?!

This is seriously making me regret so much switching my iPhone 4 for my Galaxy S2. I mean, the cellphone is amazing and samsung has nothing to do with it, but the OS and the app market are just bad jokes of what they should be.

Sometimes certain patterns of behaviour just happen to flag up alerts in the automated systems that *all* good online retailers use. It may also be down to your location (some countries are rife with CC fraud). It may just be that youre unlucky and have crossed some threshold that means youre being checked... i've had it happen to me before (not with google FWIW).

Note that this is *very* unlikely to be down to google - chances are it's actually your CC company that have flagged it and google are having to wait until it's cleared.

Look at it this way, if your card had been cloned and was being used for fraud, you'd be happy that google were double checking...

Hope it all goes through ok in the end...
