Help Widgets of Galaxy S 2 question

hey there. im kinda new to android since ive been with the iphone since it first came out. i plan on getthing the s 2 when it launches and have one question to ask.

the widgets i see in videos are kinda boring. stocks, weather, etc etc. and i kinda like the timescape widget more from sony ericsson. my question is, are there widgets i can download in the android market? maybe a widget for facebook? a widget for my music player?

yes you can download widgets from market place, certain apps come with widgets, have a browse at market.android.com for apps and widgets.

Yea there are many more widgets available in the Market. Some apps have widgets. Like the music player, I use PowerAMP and it has a widget. It also has a widget for the lock screen, but I dont use it. I use an app called Widget Locker that lets you use regular widgets on the lock screen.

If you think the widgets on the Galaxy S 2 look boring....you must've never seen Blur widgets on Motorola phones...lol

Yes, there are a wide range of widgets that will give you news, sports info, twitter updates, facebook notifications etc.

Check the Android Market where there is a widgets section to search through to find exactly what you're after

You want a widget, the chances are, is that there's something for it in the market. Never have I desired a widget, that I haven't found.

The thing I found with android (first time user) was that it's like buying a car with no interior, in that most of the software is added in later (although samsung did it).
Normal phones used to come with standard clock/alarm/calendar/text message menu items, but on android, all of these items are installed apps, you can uninstall them and strip the phone down to just the OS and the interface.
For a few seconds I thought it was kinda cheap but then I realized the genius of it all.

That is a genius analogy! Coming from iOS, where everything was already there, I was surprised to see the 'bareness' of Android out of the box. Once I realised it was like a PC, where you can pretty much totally customise anything you like with widgets, new lock screens, new launcher's etc I realised this was a tech-fan's wet dream!

Just takes a while getting used to it all and knowing what works best etc.

Have to agree. But I think that the joy, the freedom you get out of being able to do what YOU want, rather than Steve Jobs wants, it just completely blows Apple's closed eco-system out of the water.

Android just needs some refining and then, hopefully not just tech-fan's will be interested in Android phones - In this department I must commend HTC and the Sensation because, while it's not the best, I'm sure it appeals to the "common consumer"

Yeah Sense has some really nice stuff built in. I had an HTC for two years before my S2 and the only problem was when I liked some of their widgets but not others, it was hard to find others that fit the same kind of visual design.
