Buying my sister the DX

Hey all, I'm thinking about buying my sister the Droid X. She still has the *ahem* LG Voyager. She loves the functionality of the full keyboard. I looked at getting her the Droid 2 but I don't like the size of it. So, keyboard be damned. She'll have to get used to using the onscreen keyboard. My question is this...do y'all still love your DX? And why? And do you think it's "antiquated"?

I love my Droid X and I still think its one of the best phones out there. I initially thought that I would have wanted a phone with a real keyboard, but I never really felt comfortable typing on the mini slide-out keyboards. The soft / virtual keyboards, especially when in landscape mode, are very easy to type on.

The phone itself is still fast and was made even faster by the recent GingerBread update (for me at least). I love the large screen and actually like the bump up-top which makes it easy to hold the phone.

I'm sure some of the more recent and upcoming phones are on-par or surpass the Droid X in terms of features and speed, but I've been very happy with my phone since launch day of last year.

Cheers!

I first got the original droid because I thought I wanted the full keyboard too. It turned out I hardly ever even opened it up and used the on-screen kb almost exclusively. When it came time to upgrade I got the dX and haven't missed a thing about my og droid. I gave that to my wife. I'll keep this guy until I have no choice but to upgrade.

Well. I got it. Y'all should've seen the look on her face. It was the last thing she expected. She's pretty stoked. She can't really afford a new phone right now and even her new in two was going to be too much. Her husband is on Sprint and she didn't want to switch. So, big brother came through. I'm patting myself on the back for a job well done. She's on the couch right now on the market going crazy downloading apps. She asked me whats the first thing she should download. I told her...duh, Angry Birds....LOL!

Still loving my X here. Bought it originally for one reason, the large screen. Love the speed, large screen, video, Gingerbread gave it a whole new fresh outlook on life. I don't see anything else out right now that would pull me away from mine. My next upgrade will have to be a minimum dual core and 4G...otherwise, I am resting mighty happy with my X right now. :)

when i was considering a new phone, i was planning on the LG ally, but liked the htc incredible as well, but the sales rep was talking my up about the DX that would be out in a few more days, needless to say i was very happy about waiting and do so much enjoy my DX, i did not like the droid's keyboard as it was too flat, but i have played with the thunderbolt, and if it was a new phone with contract today that's what i would be getting.
