NEW Huawei Ascend X 4G released in Cincinnati

The coverage map is on the site. It looks like 4g is only right around Cincinnati and I'm close to the edge of the 3g in my area, so I'm gonna have to do some more research. I'll have to go to the store and check out the 3g speed and signal strength.

Anybody interested in this phone should check out the Huawei x6 forum. A guy has screenshots of his benchmark scores, and it tests out higher than the Nexus One or the Droid X!

My grandfather just got one from cincy bell, he lives in south dayton and does only get the 4G if hes within the city limits. Its a nice phone similar to design and speed of a droid x and he wont let me modd it  but i am a no go with GSM.

iv been with cricket for 4 years, yes they have terrible customer service but their prices are cheapest by far. im still with the Ascend for them, was thinking about the optiums but a cricket dealer said hold off for a few months. Seems They are getting 4 new android devices this year, mostly to replace what they have now.

The huawie X5 will be replacing the ascend here very soon so its looks like ascend users will not get the 2.2 upgrade. Notice the $99 price tag on them now. The x5 will have specs similar to the ascend X but will not be categorized as a high end phone like the ascend x and it might be 4g but circket (leap wireless) will not have 4g service in Ohio till 4th quarter 2011 if then. Should be about $140 when its out. Look up the specs it will make you want one. I cant wait to see how much it can be over clocked or if it really can do 720 HD and dual band Wifi N, gonna be a nice one.

Another one im interested to see is they will be getting their first tablet, It will be a viewsonic but no word on specs or 4g service. No word on the others yet but assume they will be bigger and badder than current models as they are there to replace them.

Hello, welcome to android forums. I live in Dayton myself. The 4g works in Dayton? How reliable is the 3g coverage? They have a pre paid unlimited smart phone plan for $60 that doesn't have the 1gb limit like Cricket does. If the 3g works as well as Crickets does around here I would go for it. Also, I've been talking to the guy on the x6 forum and he said that if I buy it outright, it should be unlocked so I could put an at&t or t-mobile sim card in it. Where did you hear the x5 was coming to cricket? The last I heard, the Ascend 2 was announced, but that isn't the same phone as the x5. I personally like the looks of the x5 better than the x6, but the x6 has better specs. Thanks for any info about CinBells coverage. Any idea about their 3g/4g speeds?

Update: after looking at the fine print, even though they call it the "unlimited smartphone plan", and having a chart that says data is "unlimited", the plan has the same 1gb limit as Cricket. Thats the main reason I want to leave Cricket! Well, that and I want a better phone. So, I was kinda bummed, then I got some great news from the Huawei ideos x6 forum. This phone has now been re branded once again as the Motorola Triumph and is coming to Virgin Mobile in July! This phone has everything- 1ghz snapdragon, 5mp camera w/led flash, front facing camera, vanilla Android. PPA is gonna love this thing! Supposed to come out late July, so I guess you guys are gonna have to put up with me a little bit longer. :D

Nice phone. If it has a decent battery life, this phone is gonna fly off the shelves.

Anyone looking to buy a 'gently'-used ASCEND?

Check out the video on the x6 forum. This is the nicest prepaid android yet. Plus with vanilla android, it will be easy for the devs to work their magic with it.

OH Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! :(
Say it isn't so.Can't say I'm surprised,though.
The battery is listed as 1400mAh vs 1500mAh in the Ascend, but the talk time is listed as being longer.

Anybody who has the Engadget app, there are a couple of articles on the Moto Triumph with some pictures and a nice video. I don't see a front facing camera listed on the Ascend x, so maybe thats one difference... I'm sorry if I'm confusing anybody, I just keep seeing conflicting information. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Ill take huawie over moto any day. Reaserch into who they are and youll understand that they are the largest electronic device maker in the world. They have just came here but only because our government couldnt keep them paid out. You must understand the quality of USA phones and service is down right poor compared to other countries. Yet ours is still higher priced than anyone else. Their speeds are 10 times faster than our fastest mobile speeds. Huawei is slowly bringing their better tech into our country and it should better our experience. Leap wireless (crickets owners) is the largest CDMA carrier in the world also so they work together often.

So i was told by a cricket guy today hes heard of the ascend 2 not the X5. Basically it has the same specs as the x5. But i saw on the cricket site it now has the samsung galaxy for $300!! yes its amazingly (not really) not flying off the selves. lol Sure its a better phone but with a fully keyboard that thing will be dead longer than the ascend or optimus.

As for switching to cincy bell just for the 4G, id wait. GSM is extinct, all GSM carriers are switching to CDMA once their 4G networks are complete, this is a part of the US upgrade standard like the digital TV switch. CDMA is the future, in less than a year everyone will have to use one. The speed, service and signal are all comparable to each other. Cricket has it on the price though, as they get larger and 4G the price will drop to stay under everyone else.

Cincinnati Bell's never had a limit on their unlimited that I've encountered. The exceptions to this would be, voice/data/messaging, only if you're constantly roaming. CBW has pretty decent prices and people who are technically outside of "their" coverage area often buy service because of this. The REPs should tell them this, but whatever. You should be fine. When you give your home address you can have them check to see if you're considered "covered".

Assuming this is true, is the ideos x6, the same as the ascend x?! It has the same specs.... And did anyone else notice, that the sony erricson line is throwing the xperia at you, with like 10 phones?! lol

These are all the same phone. Huawei is global, baby! And before anybody says how cheap Huawei is, they were all assembled by Foxconn, the same people who make the iPhone.:p and yes the Ascend x is the same as the x6(u9000)
