Recommending Go Launcher (was "New Launcher!" and "Go Sms"))

That actually might make me switch to Go Launcher now. How much is the Pro version? I didn't see it listed in the market.

The "Pro" version is Go Launcher EX, which is free. You should be able to download it from the online version of the Market at

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex&feature=search_result

Not sure why you didn't see it in the market app - when I just did a search on "go launcher", the "EX" version was at the top of the list.

Thanks. I was referring to Colorized Widget Kevmueller mentioned.

Oops, just saw your post asking for the colorized widget. Can someone confirm that this is what he's looking for:

http://www.colorizewidget.com/proversion/

Not sure why it doesn't show up in the regular market...

(damn it must be Friday...I put down the link to the free version by mistake - the link above has been edited to show the full version now - sorry!)

No worries. Thanks SO much for the link!

This is going to be a tough decision now. Go Launcher EX w/ the pro version of Colorize Widget means that I'd have everything that I need that I'm currently using on LPP!

I was on the verge of switching over to Go Launcher because LPP was force closing so often, but I realized that part of the reason was due to switching from portrait to landscape mode on the homescreens. Once my EVO got the Gingerbread update, it hasn't happened as frequently.

Decisions, decisions.

Just hit this morning. You can actually adjust it to your liking. 10 x 10 and anything in between

Wow, I may be doing a UI switch tonight from LPP to Go Launcher Ex. I really liked Go Launcher Ex while I used it for a brief period, but it was hard not being able to use the widgets.

With Colorize Widget, I think all my issues of not having widgets go away.

Is there any way to prevent the system from closing go launcher? I find that sometimes after running high memory use programs, when I exit go launcher has to reload itself.

I do have system persistent an prevent force close checked off.

I'm finding that, frequently, go launcher closes. When I hit home, it reloads my home screen icons quickly but then also the first time I go into the app drawer, I get a lot of lag again.

Isn't their a way to make it so go launcher will not get killed?

Whats so great about a 10x10 grid. I mean is it just the benefit of having more icons on each screen? Or is there something else I am missing?

It's mainly about being able to resize widgets and icons to a specific size. I use desktop visualizer to place icons. Look at the screenshot thread in the android themes section of this forum and xda forum. You need a larger grid to get those kind of screens

Ok, I have to be missing something. I now use GL over LPP as I just couldn't handle all the FC issues. I love it so far and it's pretty similar to LPP. One thing I would like to get is the "circle" effect in my app drawer. I saw some comments here about it and it's shown in the screen shots on the market, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how the heck to set it up. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

TYIA!

+1! This has been a major issue for me since getting the GB OTA. Never had a problem on FROYO. I've emailed the developer several times, but have not received a response back. I've switched back to LPP until this gets figured out. I still get some fore closes on LPP, but not near as much as with GL. If anyone has any fixes, please post them. Thanks!

What's funny is, I was all set to switch to Go Launcher and purchase colorized widget (so I'd still have the widgets that I use for LPP), but after I got my Photon, LPP runs 10X's smoother on it than it did on my EVO. It's probably due to the dual core processor and the additional internal storage space, but it's like night and day with the transition screens.

If by "circle" effect you mean the app drawer screens run in a circle (i.e. when you scroll to one end, it starts over at the beginning):

From any home screen, press Menu button>Preferences>App Drawer Settings;

then tap "Scrolling orientation" and choose "Horizontal loop".

If you mean changing the "effect" when pressing the Apps icon:

From any home screen, press Menu button>Preferences>Effects Settings;

then tap "Enter/Exit transition" and choose the desired transition effect. The closest thing to a circle effect would be the "Windmill" setting.

If one of these isn't what you were looking for, could you provide some specifics?
