I ordered my TB on launch day. I've had battery issues since launch. I had 3g and was getting about 11 hrs, and at 11hrs, my battery level was at around 10-12%.

Just got 4g here about a 4 days ago, and now my battery is only lasting 8 hours if not less. For example, last night at 11:35pm I took it off of the charger at 100%, at 8AM, it was at 6%.

I made sure to turn off, kill, all the apps i was not using too.

I dont know what to do anymore, this phone is unusable.

I called support and they suggested task killers, I did that and set it to aggressive, still no dice.

I want to see if I can talk to a supervisor within the next month or two and try to get a bionic or charge.

I think I am buying the Charge today. I have given up on this phone. I am in San Diego, which is a big LTE market and the phone just doesn't last. I've tried everything imaginable and am just tired of it. The only time I get even average battery life is if I put the phone in 3G. Kind of useless to have a 4G phone if you can't use 4G.

I'm giving up on the TB and getting the Charge. I just saw a TB sell for $400 on eBay used yesterday, so I think that I can get around that much for mine. This phone just doesn't cut it.

You need a bigger battery. You can fix this by getting a new phone if the new phone has a bigger battery than the Thunderbolt. The Charge has a 1600mA battery compared to the Thunderbolt 1400mA battery. I have heard it lasts a little longer but people still complain about battery life. I have heard that the new Motorola Droid phones due later will have 2000mA battery. You can bet the MOT phone will be bigger and heavier though. I suspect the 2000mA battery will be enough.

I have the extended 2750mA battery in my Thunderbolt. It solves the battery life issue but the phone does not look as cool.

I feel the same as you do. Battery is already terrible and 4G is coming to my area at the end of the summer - can't imagine battery getting worse.

I am within my 14 day trial so I am switching to charge also.

Yep don't care if you get the charge or revolution. When you go on 4G its going to suck battery life. I have gone 32 hrs easy on my bolt. So you two must use the snot out of your phones. So go ahead and get a charge and you will be posting the same problems over there. 4G radio sucks the life out of a battery. Try the leaked uodate to fix the reboot problem. Seems to work and my battery seems back to like it was before the ota that caused all the problems.

There is a reason they make extended batteries. Get one and never worry about battery life again. The solution is so simple and has been there since day one. It's crazy how so many people make so many big posts about how they have tried everything and are baffled about how to get the phone to last all day.

I'm baffled by people who don't expect a phone to at least last a work day and just accept it as the norm when it dies in 6 hours under moderate use. It shouldn't be that way.

And I'm baffled by people who think making the phone super bulky and ugly should be the norm too.

To me, and sorry if I'm asking for too much, the extended battery should ONLY be for people who are super HEAVY users. Not for someone who just wants to use it while at work moderately and wants it to last until they get home.

And I can tell you this....I bought a Charge today and it is a MUCH better phone with MUCH better battery life.

From build quality to performance, it's better. I never thought I would say that from being a full time HTC user since I've owned smart phones. But that's another story.

I agree with everything you said!

I also just exchanged my thunderbolt for a charge and think it is a much better phone. I am a huge htc fan and loved my inspire with at&t....the thunderbolt has far to many problems and the battery is non-existent. The charge battery is a miracle compared to the tb.

Htc makes some of the best phones on the market and I will switch back to htc one day I am sure. I just feel like they dropped the ball with the thunderbolt.

I agree with you. The Charge is better in almost every category that I've tried, I am very, very pleasantly surprised. It's an awesome phone that deserves a lot more credit than it's getting. I think people get too hung up on specs and Quadrant scores.

Even though it's all plastic, the build quality trumps the TB by a lot in my opinion. No light seepage, no frame separating from the glass, no mushy power or volume buttons, etc. It just feels good and well made.

With the Charge so far I have had zero randbom reboot problems, zero battery problems, zero SMS problems, zero glitches, zero build quality problems (no mushy power or volume buttons), etc.

I'm a happy camper and glad I didn't just settle on a phone. :D

Even when 4G comes to my area I think I'll just leave it off until they solve all the battery drain issues. 3G is fast enough :)

I kid you not, I think this 4G battery drain "issue" is being blown out of proportion, and I think the TB is one of the main culprits to this "issue".

Does 4G drain more battery than 3G? Yes. Is it the main reason that the TB has horrible battery life? NO.

I had a TB for 2 and a half months until yesterday. So it's not like I didn't give the phone a chance or don't know what I'm talking about.

I got a Charge yesterday, and I am not looking back for one second. I have had the Charge on 4G since I got it, and the battery life is leaps and bounds better than the TB. I mean LEAPS AND BOUNDS.

I usually get crappy reception at work, which adds to battery drainage. Not only am I getting much better reception at work with the Charge, the battery is lasting MUCH longer. I have been off the charger for 3 hours and I'm still at 90%. My TB would have been at 70% by now.

Sorry if it seems like I am hyping the Charge, but I'm just that impressed. And the bottom line of the story is that you can use a phone with 4G and still get good battery life.

I've never been a fan of the Samsung Android phones... they're slow to update. That could change in the future of course, but still.

I picked up the 1600Mah battery from Amazon. Received it Friday. I let it get down to 5% twice over the weekend just to "condition" it a bit. Yesterday I ended the night at 50%. That's with all day texting, a couple 5 min phone calls, Facebook off an on all day, reddit browsing, web browsing, a youtube video, etc. Now, battery mileage has too many factors to compare really but with the Charge it might have something to do with the larger stock battery. Also, HTC is known for crappy battery life. I had to get an extended battery for the Eris too. Now my battery life is the same as my X with the extended battery in it :)

Side note: the 1600Mah battery is the same physical size as stock. I read there is a 1700Mah now as well on Amazon. I think this is it.

Clearly HTC has done something wrong. The good news, proven by rooted users, is that the problem does not appear to be in the hardware. I was at 90% yesterday after being off charger for 12 hours and on the fringe of a 4G area most of that time. (plainjane v3, mr2, setcpu : ondemand)

I don't make a lot of phone calls on my TB, I have land lines available most of the day since I telecommute. In the car, my TB goes into a dashboard dock and I either speakerphone or bluetooth. If I spend an hour playing games during lunch, I put it on a charger for part of the afternoon. I can do this because I move from conference room to cubicle to conference room at the push of the buttons on my land line phone. People with a different work/life that can't be tethered to a charger and who make and receive a lot of calls won't be able to keep a TB.
