SGS 2 Bluetooth not pairing with Dell BH200

Hi all,
My SGS 2 is not discovering my Dell BH200 bluetooth headset while scanning for bluetooth devices. What could be the reason? And why is there a limit of only 120 seconds in which the SGS 2 remains "VISIBLE" under bluetooth? Does anyone know? I want to pair my phone with my headset......so what to do?

Secondly, is it true that SGS 2 cannot connect to Kies on our pc via bluetooth? I have to use the cable to connect to my pc and transfer files.

Also, someone please answer my query about the erratic Ringer of my SGS2.....sometimes it rings, sometimes it does not. Anyone knows why?

Hi all actual users of SGS 2, can anyone please answer this question that is it mandatory to use a Samsung Bluetooth headset alongwith this phone? Or is it possible to pair a bluetooth headset of any Brand with this phone? I am unable to pair it with my Dell BH200....does anyone know why?

Also, under the Bluetooth Settings, there is an option of "VISIBLE" (Make Device Visible), which when checked in the check-box provided.....makes the device visible for only 120 seconds. Any reason why this limit is set to only 120 seconds? And would the Bluetooth not be turned on by just checking the "BLUETOOTH" main check-box? Are we required to make it "VISIBLE" also after turning On the Bluetooth?

Can anyone explain this??? This is so confusing!

It should be. I paired my ancient Jawbone without problems.

Any reason why this limit is set to only 120 seconds?

A device only needs to be visible in order to pair with another. Once the pairing is established they will recognise each other automatically when within range.

Are we required to make it "VISIBLE" also after turning On the Bluetooth?

No, see above. To use an already-paired device simply activating BT is enough.

Thanks a ton, Slug, for your reply. I've paired my nokia phone earlier with other devices in the past, and I have never seen this option of making a device "Visible" before. Doesn't a device get automatically visible to other Bluetooth enabled devices in the range, when it is turned on?

My SGS 2 was able to recognize my old Nokia phone when both their Bluetooths were turned on, but the SGS 2 fails to recognize the Dell BH 200 Headset. I have successfully paired the Dell BH 200 headset with my Dell Studio Laptop in the past via bluetooth. So, any idea about what's wrong this time while I'm trying to pair it with the SGS 2?

And while you're at it, can you also please answer (if you know) if it is true that SGS 2 cannot connect to Kies on our laptop via bluetooth? I have to use the cable to connect to my laptop and transfer files.

Oh ok, about the "visibility" part, just checked my old Nokia phone and there is an option for Visibility there too. So I guess, the SGS II is "Hidden" by default when Bluetooth is turned on.....that's why we have to make it visible also. Let me know if I understood this correctly. And awaiting your answer to my other queries. Cheers!

Correct. It adds a bit of security, in that unpaired devices nearby won't be able to see it.

awaiting your answer to my other queries

I haven't used KIES much at all, but my understanding from the SGS2 docs is that it will connect via USB or wireless only.

There is an option in KIES to "connect via bluetooth", so I guess it has to work sooner or later. When I try to connect Kies to my SGS II via Bluetooth, it tries to connect in real ernest. Windows starts installing device drivers automatically when they are connected. But out of 5 drives to be installed only 4 get installed. The 5th and the last driver is missing "Peripheral Device driver"......I guess, Windows 7 & Samsung need to collaborate to make that device driver available so that the bluetooth connection of SGS II can be made with Kies. My guess is that one of these days it's going to work!......Well as soon as either Microsoft or Samsung update their drivers. Cheers!
