Protection case and screen protection

Hi :)

I just got HTC Incredible S yesterday, and I thought I should protect it somehow before I use it outside of the house. So does anyone have any cases etc to recommend? I don't want any cheep silicon cases.

And which screen protection should I choose? Are the cheep ones as good as the more expensive ones?

I agree Case-Mate do quite good cases

They have couple of cases coming for HTC Incredible S.

I've seen somehwere Gelli and Barely There lines that I can trully recommend as I owe the cases myself but for different phone.

Case-Mate - HTC Incredible S Cases

You can check if you like anything at Case-Mate EU website. The downside is you can't buy from there but at least you know what to look for.

They have where-to-buy setcion there so I reckon it will show the retailers where you can buy it from.

About the cases - As I said I owe 3 of them and the quiality is really good. Screen protector is great as a lot hardrer than of other brands so it won't scratch and the clarity apparently is a lot higher as well.

I won't recommend cheap ones as they are out of use quite quickly... experienced that myself when I wanted to save on protection and got my phone scratched...

Case-Mate has a wide choice of good quality cases but if you need extremely good protection probably I'd go for Otterbox but these are for extreme use like rock climbing etc. and they look a bit bulky. I guess it's a trade off depends what you are looking for.

Hope that helps.

Thanks :) I've been looking at both Gelli and Barely There, but I'm not sure about the protection it gives (low impact and scratch), and Barely There doesn't cover all the sides of the phone.

This is my first smartphone so I don't know how much a phone like this can handle. I'm interested in something that protects against scratches, knocks and if I drop it on the floor out of my pocket. The Otterbox Defender is to much I think, maybe the commuter? Or Case-mate Though Case? Or can a "normal" case protect the phone if I drop it?

Try Tough:

Case-Mate - Case-Mate HTC Incredible S Tough Case Black

it should be available at the end of this month as it says here

Case-Mate - Blog - Case-Mate Cases for HTC ChaCha, HTC Desire S and HTC Incredible S soon in Europe!

shame there is no POP for Incredible S as I would recommend that one, it protects well but is less bulky than Tough.

However Tough I guess is what you are looking for if you think about good protection.

Maybe I should be a bit more patient and wait for the Tough Case to be available :) In the meantime I think I'll buy a leather pouch for it.

This is perhaps a stupid question, but is it necessary to use a pouch and a case?

Handsdown, ishieldz is the way to go. Its about $20 for it, easy to apply and works amazingly! The way the incredible S is constructed, I don't see why it would need an outer case other than a screen protector.

The sales guy threw in an Ishieldz as an extra freebie when i got the phone so i installed it. I'm not sure how these other screen protectors and cases are, but I'm a bit disappointed with this one.

It says it's precision cut specifically for each phone, but that's not the case at all. There's a half-millimeter gap around the edge instead of fitting over the glass completely. And the cutout for the front camera is a cut-off rectangular corner many times larger than the circular lens. Right away I'm noticing dust and debris collecting at the edges. How much worse will this get over time?

There's another thread that says the Incredible S is made with special "Gorilla Glass" that's apparently scratch and impact resistant. There seems to be some confusion about this, but if that turns out to be the case I'm contemplating just removing the Ishieldz cover. I just hope removing it is even possible without leaving behind a horrible mess of adhesive.

First the Incredible S DOES NOT USE GORILLA GLASS I have a defy and a Desire and they are bullit proof and after a year are perfect .

Two weeks and the Incredible S has a scratch caused by dropping it 10cm on to my desk and hitting the corner of my HP notebook ( Made of Ali ) .. No way would the other 2 scratch with this contact ..

But more than this why are so many people obsessed with screen protectors? .. they reduce performance at best and if a sharp object is going to hit hard enough to scratch the screen a thin bit of plastic will do ZIP to stop it .

Also think this way... who are you trying to protect the screen for , you buy a phone to use it it and enjoy it what on earth is the point of reducing its enjoyment so that when the next person has it they get to enjoy it ? If you want to keep it nice.....

Look after it ...., a screen protector is like never driving your car and keeping the cheap plastic on the seats so you can sweat and be unconfortable so that the next owner can get a better car that all said and done has no greater value ... ENJOY YOUR PHONE FOR WHAT IT IS
