Root MR2 Safe?

Is MR2 safe? I want to switch to its radio so I can use GB but I'm afraid to brick my phone because I didn't get insurance for it.

Only heard of 1 brick so far on MR2 but it was Adrynalyne who probable flashes a million more times than us due to being a DEV.

He also wasn't on a Gingerbread Rom when it bricked, he was using a MR2 Froyo Rom, FWIW. It happened on a couple of reboots after flashing a kernel.

click the link i posted in "you might want to read this". no one really knows whats going on yet,his brick is some sort of equipment failure. may be radio or rom related,may be pure and simple coincidence. from the sound of it,its a different scenario than the emmc failures.

seems the safest thing to do is avoid mr2,its radio,and roms based on it,as well as the leak gingerbread radio,and gingerbread until further notice

for what its worth,i watch the thread and the forum on xda,as do lots of folks. rest assured if a warning thread,or some other relevant info pops up,one of us will post it up here for those that dont make it there as often.

having said all that,i bought my phone to flash roms and have fun with. if i wanted to run a GB leak id do it(but i am paying for insurance for a reason ). i refuse to not flash out of fear of bricking,lol. just happens right now cm7 is running too good for me to use somethin else

I dunno.... 2 guys that bricked along with a third that's a dev...

i plan to flash whatever i want to flash. im just cautious as to what *I* recceomend as safe to others...

also keep in mind with the first round of bricks there are some that we have no info about... the total death count i believe is much higher than 3

If i did somehow brick my phone is their a way i could convince Verizon to give me a new one even w/out insurance.

I'm in the same boat... insurance for me is a must because I flash everything... no holding back. I paid for it.. the phone and the insurance and I'm going to enjoy!.

And if your worried about bricking your phone.... you should have insurance. Otherwise you shouldn't even be rooting.

An insurance claim would take some time to get a replacement. My phone is vital to my profession as it is to others I'm sure.

Not to mention there are some here with enough experience rooting that while the chances of bricking from user error are still present its reduced to a minimal amount. That being said there's not much you can do if phones are bricking from an unknown hardware failure.

thats something to consider,for sure.mine is fairly important to mine as well,but prolly not as much as some,and i have other phones to use. it would make me sad to brick my TB,but i can go back to my inc for a few days without much inconvenience

this is another reason folks should "do as i say,not as i do" im ok with the risks involved.

I've been on mr2 over plainjane v3 for a day with no troubles at all. Not sure how long I'll stay here with the ginger delay and the reports coming out that ginger roms are stabilizing.
