i recently had to uninstall the natarchy-toastmods kernel,all root apps,i didnt use unrevokeds s-on tool bcuz i heard that it will make rerooting my Evo easier than having s-on. the only reason i unrooted my device was to update to the official Evo update to 2.3.3. I tried everything i could think of to install the OTA official Gingerbread update without unrooting my device, but i had to unroot my Evo to update. All i did was download the latest PC36img.zipthat has the same bootloader version as ur device. I just installed the PC36img zip to the root of my sdcard and when i went in to bootloader it found it right away. Like the others suggested make sure u dont lable it .zip.zip,bcuz Windows doesnt show the .zip after the file,even tho its there. If u have the same HBoot version and the correct PC36img zip version that matches your bootloader version, it should work/flash fine.One other thing to consider is your sdcard. Is it degraded,old,formatted incorrectly.I have had issues with an sdcard before,it wouldnt flash roms to my old T.Pro 2 and when i switched it then everything workd fine..Just another In the past i was able to update OTA,but i lost root everytime.However since i leave the S-off Unrevoked has managed to reroot my device after the last firmware update. but now newest Unrevoked3 root tool wont root the Evo with the OTA GB 2.3.3 update.
On another not,does amyone else think that HTC purposely only updated to GB 2.3.3 so that they can still release one more OTA update for the EVO 4G to GB 2.3.4. Before they discontinue all updates for the Evo. Bcuz i can see the Evo getting an official GB update to 2.3.4,but i highly doubt HTC will ever update the Evo to Honeycomb 3.0. I can see the new Evo 3D probably getting the Honeycomb 3.0 update,but not the Evo 4G. I just hope that they will release an OTA update to 2.3.4 for the OG Evo 4G. The device is already a little over a year old and its still getting the newest,mostly newest, OTA updates. keep up the great work Sprint and HTC. HTC devices are by far the most superior devices. So in another 13 months,when im eligible for a device upgrade,cant wait to see what mobile Android powered devices they offer then,Hopefully by then they will have released whatever device is going to follow the Evo 3D,bcuz the Evo 3D looks awesome. I got to play with one for a little bit bcuz a friend of mine is a tech and HTC/Sprint got an Evo 3D before the official release to familiarize themselves with it before it hits the shelves. I must say i havent been as impressed since i tried the original Snapdragon processors compared to my previous HTC Touch Pro 2s processor,which is still a great device/processor,but the Scorpion series is awesome,and was well ahaead of its time. sorry for starying off topic.
Hope u get your Evo unrooted. I know that there are several cell device stores that will root,flash ur device,flash roms,and even unroot your device for a decent price.
