Root Having some issues unrooting *please help*

I have to send my old EVO with a cracked screen back to sprint because I've received my new insurance replacement.

I first unrooted using the old method but then after reading a little more realized that sprint will still detect the hboot s-off. So i reflashed a recovery and then tried to run the hboot s-on script offered in the "rooting for dummies" thread. It then told me that it cant run because of "radio' issues.

No keep in my mind i still have the stock ruu loaded that was flashed when unrooting the old way.

Will flashing a custom rom update my radio allowing me to run the S-on tool and then after thats done flash the evo with the stock ruu pc36 file?

ok so i have read that a few people were able to use a ruu to change the ota back to froyo 2.2 then unroot. not sure if that will work or not but it is worth a try. you can get them here: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service run it on your computer and connect your phone when it promts you to. once that is done then try and see if you can unroot it. it might not work because of the new hboot.

well i hate to recommend anything deceitful. so you can do that at your own risk. also it depends on what insurance you have some, do not cover water damage. you can always try and take your chances with the sprint tech. most usually do not care, but lets hope you can unroot it.

also would one of my nandroid backups before ota downgrade the hboot

The ruu cant connect to my phone for some reason

no the nandroid backups will not downgrade to your hboot. lets try a PC36IMG file and see if your current hboot will see it. so download this: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service.
1.download the file
2.rename the file. just basically erase everything except for PC36IMG. do not add a ".zip" to the end as windows hides extensions
3.transfer the file over to the root of the sd card.
4.go into hboot(bootloader) power off then press and hold power+vol down.
5.select yes to update and it should downgrade you to froyo 2.2
and from there maybe you can unroot. not sure though.

try that first. i may have another idea but lets see if that works.
