Hi all,

Before the evo 4g new update, my handcent used to be able to change the pattern how the LED notification works. For example, red or green light and also blinking or the lights staying on. Now after updating evo and handcent, the options are gone. The LED notification can only be blinking. I am fine with blinking if the email notification is not the same pattern as the text notification.

Is there any way to change the behavior how the LED light flashes when there's a miss call, email or text?!

Update Handcent, but the new one doesn't give color choice.

Sorry, I should have said it only allows you to choose to blink or not to blink.

No worries buddy. Truly appreciate your input. What I know is that HTC changed the settings so the programmer can't control LED anymore after the gingerbread update. Therefore, if anyone still wants the feature, will have to root your phone which at the same time will be easier for hackers?! Well, I am just kinda lazy to root my phone. When HTC stop updating this phone then I will consider it LOL.

Ok so for the most part I have really enjoyed my EVO since I got it. And every once in a while I have to do a little research online to "teach" me how to do something I know it can do. LOL. But ever since my EVO did it's latest update on my Sprint network and also did the latest update thru Handcent, I have lost the ability to personalize the LED functions on my phone. This is very frustrating as I don't always hear my phone or may have it on silent. So can anyone please tell me how to fix this or if there is a "fix" in the works??? Doesn't make sense why this function would have been taken away from such a useful app. My second issue I have been having with my phone is, I have started noticing some issues with my contacts that I have linked to my FB. If I have a contact linked to FB, then the phone uses the pic my contact has on their FB profile. Yes, I have gone in and changed it in my phone to use my Gmail pic over and over and over again but it never stays ESPECIALLY since the new updates. So I tried to "unlink" my contact from the FB profile and then if I have them labeled as a favorite, it shows them twice in my favorites. And then when my contact calls me, the phone STILL uses the pic my contact has for their FB profile. It is almost as if my phone creates a whole new contact. But when I go to find it the way it comes up thru the "FB" contact, I cant find it no matter how I tell the phone to look. Whether I tell it to show me Google contacts, FB, Phone. It doesn't matter. Please help. I am clearly lost.

Thanks

For the handcent, I have problem noticing the unread texts too. But there's a work around. In the settings->notification settings->notification settings. There should be a reminder just below LED settings you can turn on. Therefore, it will keep beeping until you read it. You can set the time interval and how many times you want it to remind you. This is the work around for me for now.

If you want a permanent fix, you might have to root your EVO so the apps can get access to the LED which is blocked by HTC. If I understand it correctly, you don't need to get a rom. Simply root it then you can have the control of your EVO. However, there's a chance you might brick your phone. Since I only have one phone, I don't want to risk it rooting it. If you want to do it, you have to really read through the forum and ask questions before doing it which should assure you the success. According to the posts I have read, the chance for bricking your phone is pretty small if you really do your research. I wish I have a techy friend who can help me with the process.

About your second issue, I don't have experience about it. I always use the FB profile picture. I would recommend you to post another new thread which should draw more attention to it. Good luck!
