Who is actively using google voice these days? What do and don't u like about it?

I use it for texting and voice mail. Love it. I have a family plan and make everyone use it, I don't have a texting plan with VRZ anymore. I do wish it had MMS but everyone has pretty much learned to send me email instead.
I really like being able to use it online too, so nice when my phone is 'over there' and my laptop is 'right here'. Texting, voicemail and calls (made and received)...either place!
I use Google Voice Callback (great app) and get free calls with my Friends and Family too.
Can't go wrong with GV really!

I am.

How do you like it?
A lot.

What do and don't u like about it?
Likes:
  • Unwanted call handling options ("number not in service", calls straight to VM with no notification, etc)
  • VM transcription
  • GV site for sending/receiving SMS, checking/forwarding VM ,etc
  • Multiple phone ring (poor coverage at work for all carriers)
  • Call transfer
  • Number virtualization (I can "port" all I want without the hassles of porting)
  • Better international rates than my carrier
  • GV extension for Chrome

Dislikes:
  • Stuck with GV app for SMS unless SMS forwarding is used
  • Not as convenient without data coverage

The GV site and plenty of other sites list out the features and offer guides to GV. See if the features suit you rather than blindly polling people about whether they like GV or not. Take it for a spin and see for yourself. You don't have to give out your GV number until you're convinced and ready to switch. If you don't like it you don't have to use it.

I try to use it when driving but it annoys me how I have to keep reactivating it at each stage e.g. "text john" .. it finds John and then I have to tap the icon again to actually compose the body of the text. Kind of defeats the purpose of the voice app for me.
The GV app isn't a voice recognition app.

I use my Google Voice number instead of giving out my cell number. I have an AZ number that I've had for years and didn't want to change it. So when I signed up for GV, I went for a FL number.

Since then, I've cancelled my messaging plan and use GV for SMS. I like the app, works great. I also like the calling features GV offers. I have some numbers set to go directly to voicemail so I can screen it (like work).

I save $20/month using GV, really love that!

I use it for texting and voicemail. I really like the fact that I am saving money and not needing a texting plan through Verizon. I also like the fact that I can pull it up on my computer, I often will sms at work without having to pick up my phone. This allows me to get away with texting at work without anyone knowing! (Except the IS department I guess) I am one of those people who hates picking up the phone to listen to voicemails, so the fact that I can read my messages (and usually get the general idea of what is being said) or listen to it through my speakers is fantastic. Before GV I would generally just ignore any messages left for me. Oh, and I use GV to backup my contacts and look up addresses, etc when needed.

I don't like that it still has some bugs. Once in a while my incoming messages will be delayed and on my actual phone I have issues going from an individual message to the homepage for GV. But the bugs are worth the $20 a month I'm saving!

I use GV for texting (love saving the money) but the past few days I've been having a lot of issues with it.

Like someone else mentioned I have a hard time going from a message to the home screen - but it's not something I can't deal with it.

What bothers me more, though, is that sometimes the messages just don't go out, and the "sending" keeps going and going. Sometimes the message is sent but the phone doesn't let me know. In the past I can just re-start the phone and the problem is fixed.

The past few days even re-booting doesn't help. I'm not texting excessively either.

Any ideas?
