Upgraded to a Nexus S. Comments, concerns, and general opinions

I like the phone but have been having the signals issues which it appears not every nexus has. I live like 1/2 mile from a tower and have no 4g at all. Im going to try and switch it out today and see if a new one does any better. If that doesn't work, ill probably end up returning it this week as I really need it to be reliable for work. If I return it, I have an evo I may use in the meantime until the issue gets straightened out. Does anyone know if I return the nexus but don't get a replacement phone, do I still keep my phone credit for a new contract?

I've got a Clear modem, an Overdrive Pro, and a Nexus S 4G in my home. The Nexus S has the worse reception and only half the speed of the other devices.

I took the overdrive to Best Buy and connected several devices and tested their speed. All were over 5mb. The Nexus can't get above 2mb.

This is not some instance of mass hysteria. There is a problem.

I forget to mention one thing I really like about the Nexus S, and that is the Bluetooth audio.

My car features a 10 speaker surround system, and the Nexus S transmits audio with incredible fidelity, without any clipping or distortion, with Pandora or my personal collection.

Because my steering wheel audio buttons control the Nexus S, it makes for a great experience. This alone is worth the price of admission for me.

Has anyone had the experience of attempting to use the phone while it charges only to discover that the phone is still losing charge? I am used to that behavior when charging in my car but can't believe that it would happen while plugged into a wall outlet. Is this issue common or should I take my phone back? I hate the idea of not having the option to use my phone for long periods of time each day especially if the phone is dying of regular use in the late afternoon or early evening. I'm looking for some good news here. Thanks.

I'm still puzzled how the phone knows that it's plugged into my cigarette lighter cord rather than an a.c. adapter to force it to run off battery in the car.

I'm guessing it will discharge to the point where it will take advantage of the juice being offered to it, but I haven't gotten that far yet. I don't even care if it charges, but I'd like it to use it as a battery eliminator. I'm not sure it's smart enough to do even that.

This smart phone needs an education.

Also got one for the Mrs. A couple annoying things:

1. Can't sync facebook contacts to phone
2. Can't sync facebook calendar to phone
3. No visual voicemail

Has anyone found any workarounds for theses? I know there is syncmypix in the market, but i was hoping for something better. She really wanted the calendar to have events and birthdays synced from facebook like my EVO but guess thats a no go also?

Other than those, phone is awesome. Is fast and responsive and a million times better than her Hero. If anyone knows how to get around the above, let me know!

You can sign up for the swype beta. I believe they opened it back up.

Yes, swype 3.0 works well

Not having a memory card slot might be an issue for some. I saw a guy buy two in BB yesterday and the sales person told him the sd card was in the box. Doh!

Wow, that rep is an @$$
