Wow...seems to be moving pretty fast, thanks for the post. I haven't been able to run CM since my D1 was replaced w/a D2 by VZW. Be fun to try it again and see what's up with it. Though I do have to admit that there are things that I like about Blur, so leaving my GB ROM w/blur included for CM might not be as simple a decision as it was back when the first versions of Blur <shudder> appeared....

Yeah a lot of people have grown fond of the new blur. I like it but I can do without it. This will definitely be something to try out though, you can always flash back! ;)

Redflea...are you using the Blur launcher with the GB-leak on the D2? Just curious as to how you think GB enhaced the D2 experience.

I was planning on buying a Nook Color and putting CM7 on it, but it looks like CM7 on the D2 could be a fun weekend experiment as long as there's a stable return path.

I'm using Launcher Pro - the Blur launcher is very nice, but doesn't allow one key feature, setting the grid to 5x5 rows/columns and resizing widgets. Other than that, the Blur Launcher in GB seemed very nice.

GB/GingerBlur enhancements that I like on the D2:

- Overall faster performance
- Improved cut/copy/paste functionality
- Improved options in Exchange mail in Email app (e.g., set out of office, change sorting of emails)
- Much improved Blur (e.g., "Gingerblur") that doesn't appear to impact performance and the widgets/functionality is actually quite nice

Current list of issues W/CM7 D2 ROM:

Broken Stuff

- GPS & Geolocation are broken
- Camcorder is broken
- Keyboard mapping is off (but current build has a temp fix, and any third-party keyboard works fine, e.g., swype, etc.)
- USB Debugging is all jacked up
- Mic is broken on calls but works via speakerphone on calls, and for voice-search, etc.
- Autobrightness is broken (fix entered in most recent build, not confirmed)
- Accelerometer is broken

If they can get the mic working on calls I'll be able to give it a try, but do need a normal working phone for work use.

Yeah once this gets a little more refined I would try it out.

Still having issues with GPS and camera/video, besides that CM7 is great on the DX! :D
I'm running CM7 on the DX and have done the workaround on the GPS, so that works.
The camera issue is still there, but Camera Illusion works and saves the pix
CM7 is so freaking fast, it blows me away, and it's very stable. Hope the D2 gets it and also the D2G (my wife has that model).

There is a new build this AM!

EDIT:
OK guys... i modified the build6 .zip to take out the two lines I mentioned above, added the libaudio mic fix, overwrote the qwerty keyboard files with droid2 counterparts, and used the sensors from sholes....
wiped data, cache, and dalvik... manually formatted /system (to make sure everything was gone) flashed it, and I've got working mic audio, working accelerometer, and working keyboard with the right mappings... I'm uploading the zip to mediafire and will post the link when it finishes

Confirmed by Terryrook:

My in call mic works! You crazy ****erf*****s did it! I'm so happy I'm gonna throat punch my wifes cat! Thanks again for making this happen!

(I think he's kidding about the cat... ;))

Mediafire: jbird_build_6-r4.zip

You have to SBF back to Froyo and re-root, then install this ROM if you're on a Gingerbread ROM. And, note that once you've flashed CM7 I believe you have to SBF back and re-apply leaked GB if you want to get back to one of the current GB ROMs.

Details:

We have:
- mic
- speakerphone
- BT
- accelerometer
- camera
- GPS
- Charging via wall outlet
- Gapps all work (including Market) when installed after ROM install
- Camcorder preview
- Video playback (from SD card/Youtube, etc.)
- Physical keyboard mapping (except maybe alt-lock)

We don't have:
- USB mount/charging
- Camcorder record/save
- aGPS
- Light sensor
- Torch (integrated open-source flashlight app)

Build 11 is out today: jbird_build_11.zip

Flash it and have fun. Make sure you wipe data/cache and format system before installing build 11.

Register bugs here: RootzWiki

If you don't wipe data/cache and format system, don't report bugs.

It looks good - you'll see bug reports on the thread at the link above - so far camcorder doesn't record (expected), Torch (bundled flashlight app) FCs, and autobrightness may not be working.

Redflea, thank you very much for your reply up on post #6, truly appreciatte it.

I'm tempted to give CM7 a try but I'm out on vacation starting next week, so not the best time to lose my phone to a bricking experience, haha. But most certainly will give it a shot.

In the mean time I'm more than likely getting a NookColor and dual-botting CM7 from a Class 4 or 6 SD card. That way I can play with CM7 and have books to read on the beach. w00t.

Build 12 is out, evidently lots of fixes included.

Okay kids.. It's rom time.

We made some major changes to the build tonight. Some you'll notice others you wont, except for the increase in battery life and performance

- Video is working!! - looks like crap but its working :p
- Removed the tether icon - at least until we confirm whether tethering will work or not on this kernel
- Reduced network scan time
- Increased animation back to normal - it looks cool the way it was but we're trying to get this rom official eventually
- The rest of the changes are all network related.

Enjoy!!

How you liking CM on the D2? Hope you like it as much as I do on my X! :D

Very happy to have CM again, hadn't run it since my D1 was replaced w/a D2 by VZW.

I do miss the updated Blur email app - it is way better than the stock email app in CM, and would like to see if I can integrate the battery manager from GB into it as well, as I find JuiceDefender unnecessarily complex and flaky.

It is amazing how far the devs have gotten this ROM in just a week or so, and hopefully we'll progress to full CM status and nightlies, etc., in the future.
