I think that battery life comment is taken the wrong way. She says explicitly that you will definitely make it through a full day with 3G turned on, which I feel is a big improvement over the first EVO.

Just checking since I've never owned a high end smartphone before. Things like 3G/4G/Wifi/Bluetooth/etc should all be tabbed off unless you are actually using the phone? So when you have it just in your pocket use the widget to tab off all those features, and then when you pull it out to use it tab them all back on? If so what about 3G/4G when you get a call?

You can leave WiFi and the GPS on all day long as long as your GPS isn't being used by an app. And you dont have any apps sending/receiving data over WiFi a lot.

I typically leave Bluetooth, 3G, 4G, WiFi, and GPS off. Stops apps from doing what they want if for some reason an app defaults to its original send/receive data schedule.

You dont have to turn on any of those radios to text or talk on the phone. 3G, 4G, and Wifi ate only for data. If you need to navigate using Telenav or Navigation, you must have GPS on and coupled with 3G, 4G, or WiFi.

Yes, HTC has toggle switches for all the radios which allows you to quickly turn on/off those radios. You must add the toggle switches to a homescreen. I put mine on a screen close to my primary screen since I like to leave my radios off.

Want to download digital voicemail you must toggle 3G, 4G, or WiFi on in order to download the messages.

I agree with you. You listened to the important message she passed. She should have said its atrocious if you leave 4G on all day long. It's atrocious if you are a heavy user while leaving 3G on.

So I should leave the headlights of my car on overnight when I'm not in my car right? It's just a 24 volt battery that may or may not be dead by morning. Let me leave the dome lighting on while I'm at it. Those lights can be the apps on my phone.

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion just yet. There's been reviews praising the reviews, and not claiming there's anything terrible about it. We'll be the judge of it when the phone drops.

Man people who have to take the subway to work, work in basements or in buildings that can withstand tornados should really leave 3G, 4G, and WiFi on all day. Even if it means you get a crappy 3G signal when you are in your building which drains the battery. Nevermind the fact I can get to my personal AOL account VIA the computer in my government building and pull up the METAR/TAF on my government computer. Nevermind the fact I can watch YouTube on a government computer too. Government offices don't use WiFi. If I jump on a pvt plane a lot I guess I should leave 3G and 4G on although my phone will be almost dead by the time I land. Really smart to do especially if you get stuck overnight at a location without a charger.

What really kills me is when I go to Hastings and i need to look up something on my phone. So I swipe one screen over and toggle my WiFi to on in order to connect to their WiFi. I look something up then turn WiFi off again. That 4-5 seconds of having to toggle WiFi on/off is going to kill me someday.

yeah. 16 hours 23 minutes of the same light regimen (light, mostly idle, mostly wifi)

and that also included 6 hours if me sleeping.

Actually, I'm fairly certain that Sense 3.0 has added all of these toggles to the Notifications bar, as well as a built in task manager. Should definitely save some space on the home screens.
