Google Music Beta

interesting. My stock music app is nowhere to be found.. not in app tray, and shortcut on homescreen is gone also.

I dont have any songs "pinned", so how would unpinning accomplish anything? I may be misunderstanding this Pin thing.. sorry.
My Music app is by HTC, so that may be why it is not over written.

To delete songs from you Google Music account, you have to do it from the PC.
Pinning/ unpinning only downloads / deletes music from your phone.

well i understand that method, im familiar with astro. I think i may have found the way to delete my SD songs within Google Music App. Learning as i go here.
BUT, no option to remove sync'd music? Or have I just not found that yet?
So say I upload 100 songs, then I get to work and on my Droid I want to remove 2 of the songs from my list... can it be done thru the app? Or only online, then re-sync? :/

Perhaps the HTC/Motorola have different effect? I guess i could try uninstalling and see if my stock Music app returns...

Having a bit of an annoying problem. I uploaded all my music from itunes, and that worked fine. I went through Music beta from a browser and deleted a few hundred songs that I just dont really listen to anymore. I want to keep those in my itunes however. The problem is, when I delete them, the Music Manager program sees that, and re-uploads them. Obviously I can just close out of that program, but I like to keep it open so when I do add new songs to itunes, they get uploaded.

Anyone know a workaround for this?

Sitlet - I have a collection of about 35,000 songs that was initially loaded in iTunes. It was a major pain but what I ended up doing was taking my library and splitting it in to two - one that contains music that I want uploaded to Google Music and the other containing the remainder of my library (mostly stuff I don't really listen to anymore). I point the Google Music Manager to my Google Music share and then I point iTunes to both. Unfortunately, I don't get playlists because I'm not pointing to iTunes but I would imagine they'll eventually open up a feature to upload playlists from an export.

Hope this helps.

Yea, I guess that would work. But I dont want to screw up how itunes sees all my music. For now, what I did was, uploaded all my music from itunes, which also uploaded all my current playlists too. Then I turned off automatic upload in the Music Manager, that way it wont try to re-upload anything I delete from the server. And if I do add new music to my itunes from now on, I'll just point Music Manager to that specific folder, not to itunes as a whole.

Got my invite last night. I've been playing with it a little bit. The web page version seems to have no issues generating an 'Instant Mix' from the songs that are on there, but I can't find a way to generate a mix on the Android app. I downloaded the latest version this morning.

Any suggestions on where I should look, or does this option not exist on the android app??

Thanks!

OK, 2 questions.

1) Anyone else have issues with Google Music not using the genre info that is in the actual song? I use WMP to keep my music organized and sometimes I change the genre of an album to match the others of its kind. Google Music is showing songs in genres that don't exist on my PC. It's really annoying.

2) I have like 900 songs that say "Error uploading file". Doesn't really tell me much and I have no idea why it would have an error. Will the program try again or can I tell it to try again or anything to see why these songs aren't uploading?

1) Yeah, in the same situation with the same issue. It does seem to re-tag music, as it did wonk up some genres. But it also added album art where I didn't have any before, etc. So, a mixed bag but, yes, annoying in some respects.

2) Also had this happen. What I did was delete the albums so that GMusic can try again. Will let u know how it goes. There doesn't seem to be any option within thee Manager that I can find. Also annoying.

I got the "error uploading file" on a bunch of my tunes. There seemed to be no reason why. For example, it could be one out of 12 songs on an album that I ripped myself.:thinking: I would delete the album and retry the upload and it would still happen on that ONE track.

I ended up obtaining the tracks again via other means when I ran into these problems. ;)

Hi folks, I have the following issues:

1. Unable to sync playlist on Android with GMusic Web interface. Should we have to create two separate playlist on the GMusic Web interface and the GMusic app on the Android? In addition, the music on the GMusic shows up on my Android, but not the other way around.
2. GMusic on Android no longer sync with existing playlist on my SD card. When I initially installed the GMusic Android it recognized my existing playlist that I had already created from the stock music player on the handset. However, now that I've created a new playlist on that stock music player it is not recognizing it. It is also not seeing any of the new songs I uploaded to the SD card on the handset.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mine did this too. The only way to fix this, is to uninstall the Music Manager program completely, then reinstall it. When it re-installs, it will see those missing tracks and upload them.

I requested an invite about a week ago and haven't received an invite.

Mine took over a month, be patient.

does this Accept m4a itunes format music or only mp3? as almost if like 99% of my music is from itunes or CD Rips

Yes, but only if they are DRM free.

I've got a very weird problem. I have found a song that plays Mono only when using my phone. I hooked up my same headphones to my PC and played the same song through the online player and the song is in Stereo. I hook the heaphones up to the phone and the song is mono.

All other songs are great on the phone, just this one is played in Mono for some strange reason. Any ideas??!! I cleared cache and also deleted the (huge amount of) cached music in the SD card. I might try reinstalling the app.

EDIT: I found the cached version of the song on my SD card and downloaded it to my PC. It is 64kbps mono! The song is high quality max 320kbps VBR on my pc. I dont get it. Guess thats why its beta.

EDIT x2: I deleted and reuploaded the album and it still plays that song @ 64kbps mono. I dont get it!

EDIT x3: Uninstalled and reinstalled the mobile player. Then chose a different song as the first song to play. It was low quality 64kbps mono. The other song that was bothering me is now ok. So, for some reason the first song you play on startup is downloaded in very low quality?

Such an annoying bug on the Android app: the songs play on repeat even though I do not have repeat on. Its like the song keeps playing past its finish time and just repeats. Grrrr

I also have the repeat problem. The first song always plays back-to-back. Sometimes the first song will repeat, then the second, then no problem. Sometimes (although rarely) a song will repeat someplace in the shuffle.

I'm using an HTC Desire with US Cellular running Android 2.2 and using the Google Music app.

This is the update to the stock app (other words it is the stock app) so now it's updated, that's why you don't see it.
