Root Elite series III -clockworld recovery

I just tried to install Elite III on my EVO. I was running CM7 with the Tiamat kernel but I was experiencing bad battery life. Truth be told I'm addicted to flashing too. Anyway, I downloaded the Caulkins zip and the Elite Rom to my SD card. When I tried to install the Caulkins file it aborted the installtion. For some reason Clockworld recovery popped up. How do I get that to go away in order to create a Nandroid backup and not Clockword? I downloaded MikG's at the same time so I went ahead and installed that one. I've been wanting to give it a try too. What's the best kernel to go with MikG's to optimize battery life. What experiences have you had with Elite? It looks very nice.

Thank you!

ok are you doing this through rom manager? or manually? what version clockwork mod recovery do you have?

as far as mikg goes, it is based off of the latest ota. so right now all we have is the stock kernel. htc has as of yet not released the source code for the new kernel. so we do not have any custom kernel yet for any 4.22 rom.

First off what version of clockwork mod do you have?
You may need to flash an alternate recovery.
Second Elite III is an awesome Rom, everything works, it's fast and has a cool theme. Konikub is an awesome dev.
Third I'm using MikG atm. I personally love this rom, first time I've used sense since I had my Hero.
As far as I know the new kernel has not been released by HTC yet, so no unlocked kernel. All we have for 2.3. Is the stock kernel. Give the devs a little time, they'll come up with something soon. :)

Edit: Poop, ocn beat me too it again!

Thank you guys. I used to use Rom Manager but i read on here that it isn't the best to use. I was going to flash Elite and Mikg the manual way. When I tried to flash Elite, the Caulkin zip file aborted installation. It seems that I read that Elite and Clockworld don't play well together. That's why I didn't open CW to install.
If I remove ROM Manager will Clockworld go away? I really want to use the best methods for flashing. I would hate to jack up my precious phone.
As soon as I asked about the kernel for Mikg I remembered it wasn't ready yet. I need to look and see what version of Clockworld i have to answer your question. So far I like Mikg but I've only had it for a few hours. Very nice so far!

If you have CWM 3.0.0.5 then Caulkin's might not work as it may be written in the wrong script. Most on here recommend using Amon RA 2.3 instead of CWM. You can find the links and instructions here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/259446-clockwork-amon-ra-pc36img-files.html if you want to switch or decide to go to CWM 2.6.0.1 which supports both scripts used to write the flashable zip files.

Thank you! How did you like Kong's? How was the battery life? I'm on MikG now. I like it ok but the battery is abysmal.

well the nice thing about koni's elite is that there are a bunch of custom kernels that you can pick from to get better battery life. but, with mikg there is no custom kernel yet. all that is out there is the stock kernel. once htc releases the source code for the kernel then you will see the devs release some custom ones. so until then with the new 4.22 roms. we will have to use the stock kernel and wait.:(

I'm suprised that your battery is that bad. What is your pri?
You might get better battery life with the 1.77 pri. I'd link you a thread for downgrading your pri, but I'm on my phone app.

I'm sure you're right. My PRI 1.90 I've been reading about those issues, just dreading the prices. I've never done that but I guess I'll have to bite the bullet. I'm tired of the horrible barry.
