Root Consistently rebooting DInc

I've had my g/f's DInc rooted since last October. I've flashed just about every ROM out there, multiple kernels, and I'm still having the same probs.

See, the prob is any task that you do for too long will reboot the phone. GPS (making navigation impossible), internet, games, whatever. This has happened no matter what ROM I've used, no matter what kernel I've used. I've tried every fix in the book (I have had my OG Droid rooted almost since root access was found, I know most of em), but nothing I've done seems to fix it.

Now, I must admit, I can't remember any one of these probs present before I rooted her DInc. But it's not like I OC, I just wanted to get her better battery life. And it doesn't appear to be memory management as I keep a close check on that.

Is it possible that this phone just doesn't want to run custom ROMs? Should I just unroot, see if the prob persists, then make an insurance claim if that doesn't fix it? I'm mostly just looking for others' opinions here.

I have also rooted my DINC with several ROMs and kernels over the past year, but have never had a rebooting issue like you describe. I seem to recall some threads about overheating being a potential issue for some DINCs and I think that was causing rebooting for some people. If the phone seems to get unusually warm while running apps for extended periods, you might want to search for something like that in the forum.

Addendum... There is a bunch of discussion at http://androidforums.com/incredible...redible-random-restart-reboot-problem-20.html

Maybe you will find something useful there.

Thanks, I'll give that a read through. Much obliged.

is your droid Incredible OC'ed? That will cause that.

Nah, I never OCed it. I always just kinda just left it at stock speed, as the phone has always been fast enough. But I did have it set to UC when the screen was off and as the battery went down.

It has basically been shown that nothing I could do to it was going to make it function properly. After getting a diff prob fixed (had absolutely no 3G, no icon, nothing), I flashed CM7 which def was ran pretty nice on there for a lil bit. But the overheating started again. After a series of that, I lost 3G again. And then, the phone wouldn't make or receive calls. Absolutely last straw.

So yesterday I used one of my upgrades to get my g/f the Droid Charge. She's very pleased with it, and I'm very jealous. Now, my OG Droid feels old, very old. As for the DInc, I still have another on my plan that hasn't had nearly the trouble my g/f's did (this one is a more recent version, which I have come to believe was the issue). So I'll still be lingering from time to time. See you guys around and thanks for the help.
