So I currently have my X in an outterbox commuter case with a SPG Crystal Clear screen protector.
I want to keep it for another year. I have dropped it a few times.

I have thought about getting an oem extended battery. Whichevee battery is the smallest?
I know an extended battery will not fit with an outterbox. Will an extended battery fit with the kraken case? Is it a good case? I think I like the added protection of it over the commuter. Anybody have pics or advise?

I had my Droid X in an Otterbox Defender case for a while but ultimately decided to move it into a Trident Kracken. While I liked the Otterbox case I had frequent issues with keeping the silicone shell flush to the case... not to mention lint!

With the Trident Kracken the only issue I've run into so far is that the little window over the proximity sensor gets dirty. When it does I have periodic issues with the phone display not turning on when I remove the phone from the side of my head. Last time it happened I was unable to end a call until I removed the phone from it's case. It's an annoyance but I just have to remind myself to clean that little window now and again...

Thanks for the advice!!
I just ordered one for only $22 :)
It should be here by Thurs. I went with the Trident Kracken Yellow case. I didnt want black cause my current Otterbox is black. I just hope is not TOO HUGE or TOO STICKY to put in my pocket. I liked the thiness of the Commuter series and the hard backing that allowed it to easily "slide" into my pockets. But I have recently made the decision to keep my X til next year, therfore, I need to make sure it is fully protected.

I did see one "bab" think about the Kraken case. I have read that sometimes it is hard to get to the notification bar. Time will tell. Im hope Im happy with my purchase.

I hate to say it, but if you want thin, the Kraken is definitely not for you. I had to switch to a slimmer case for summer, since I have far less pockets to fit my phone into. It is, however, a tough case, and will deal with just about anything you throw at it. I also don't think you can use an extended battery, because it won't fit; the case fits snug.

Re: the notification bar, I found that rolling my finger down (instead of dragging) usually caught the bar and drew it down. Otherwise, yeah, you're not going to get it down come hell or high water. I also set a swipe gesture to the middle icon of my three docks in Launcher Pro Plus that would bring the notification bar down, so I didn't need to play with it.

Yea. I know it wont be thin at all. No where near my otterbox commuter :(...BUT, I think it will offer a lot more protection. And like I said, this phone needs to last cause im saving my upgrade. lol. Saving it for something worth while.
And for $22 shipped, I dont think I can beat that. If I kept my otterbox I was going to have to get another screen protector. I ONLY use the SGP Crystal Clear or Clairvue. And the cheapest I could find a pack of Clairvue was $11 with free shipping, mine as well throw in another $11 and get a whole new case with a screen protector built in. lolz.
Im kinda excited! hahaha.

I does suck about the battery though :( I would love to find an amazing case that allows for a bigger battery...o well :( Maybe on the next android device :p

BTW, Which color did you get and do you plan on going back to it in the winter??

It does offer protection, that's for sure; it felt like a bomb could go off, and only my phone and the roaches would survive. Heh.

I had the red/black one. I don't know if I'll go back, simply because of the bulk, but I found two more Tridents on eBay that have come out and are apparently slimmer: Cyclops and Aegis. I think I may buy one of these instead. I'd be cutting out the screen protector, though; after switching to my current Vertex and SGP Ultra Clear, I don't think I could go back to the included protector that came with the Trident. Not that it was terrible, but you can really tell there's something there.

I was gonna get the cyclops (supposedly a lil smaller than the Kracken) but i thought, go big or go home. And Ill be putting my replacement X in it so I gotta take care of it.
I just removed th SGP Ultra Clear today...Im sad to see it go. Case should be here Wed :)
